The Carrier Relations Analyst is responsible for assisting in the planning, directing and coordination of carrier operations. This position drives and identifies cost savings opportunities and coordinates across departments. The Carrier Development Analyst is responsible for setting high on-time and margin performance measures, driving revenue growth and service performance through sourcing initiatives. In this role multiple aspects of logistics and carrier operations are managed, including tasks such as resolving carrier conflicts and ensuring ongoing development of transportation sourcing and strategy.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Day to day management across carrier services.
• Assist with the design and implementation of transportation sourcing and capacity management strategies across multiple customers, production facilities, and distribution centers
• Manage transportation sourcing with reliable and market efficient transportation providers necessary to provide on-time service for all customers and will continually look at cost and service levels to determine best strategy for continuous improvement
• Responsible for the daily/weekly/period reports for revenue/cost/savings based on transportation provider performance
Oversee carrier network and bids.
• Liaison between the company and other organizations to stay in front of transportation trends that impact performance and costs for customers
• Contribute to development and strategic direction of transportation bid events to support continued growth and development of all customers
• Establish and maintain long-lasting, sustainable relationships with carrier partners. Ensure goals are aligned to provide best options to our customers
Identify and negotiate rates.
• Increase utilization of current carrier base by looking to grow capacity across a much broader network with increased visibility.
• Negotiate contracts and rates with transportation providers in a consistent manner for Arrowstream and to align with business partners
• Stay current on carrier capacities in various geographical areas as well as carrier partners’ capacity capabilities. Routinely search out and enlist new carriers as primary and back-up resource partners in current and emerging geographic markets.
QUALIFICATIONS
Type & Amount of Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in Logistics or Supply Chain professions, or related field
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; communication expertise with high volume phone and email correspondence
• Proven experience with organization, planning, and follow through
• Experience in goal and objective setting, tracking metrics and presenting results
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree required; Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or Finance concentrations preferred or equivalent experience
Technical Expertise:
• Prior knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Experience with TMS, WMS or other Logistics/Supply Chain software
• CRM experience a plus
