Systems Engineer

Summary
Audit Analytics is seeking a talented forward-thinking onsite/partial remote Systems Engineer to join our growing technical team.  We are an independent research firm that provides key data and analysis to global leaders in the financial, accounting, and regulatory communities. We pride ourselves on data quality and accuracy. The Systems Engineer will drive ongoing improvements of company systems infrastructure. They will provide key input on the architecture and solutions required to scale our systems in support of the growth of our databases, ETL (Extract Transform Load) processes, data analytics, employees, and clients. In addition to strategic growth initiatives, the Systems Engineer will assist the existing Systems team with general administration duties including our on-call rotation.  

Responsibilities
  • Drive new systems initiatives, automate existing processes, and reinforce best practices
  • Design and implement core infrastructure improvements, including Virtualization, Operating System migration, and deployment of a centralized logging system
  • Automate server builds using configuration management, operating system migration, and integration of monitoring tools and metrics
  • Operate and maintain production and development systems in a Linux/Unix environment
  • Assist existing systems team with monitoring and managing system resources, system logs, back-up and recovery, continuity of operations, security, patching software, and storage management
  • Participate in the system team’s on-call rotation for production outages

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Unix/Linux systems engineering experience
  • Proficiency with server monitoring tools like Nagios or Zabbix
  • Demonstrated experience working with virtualization technologies (e.g., KVM, Xen, Citrix, VMware)
  • Working knowledge of installation and configuration management tools (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Ansible)
  • Intermediate coding ability, (e.g., Perl, Shell Scripting, Python, or PHP)
  • High-level planning, prioritizing, and execution skills
  • Aptitude for problem solving
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize tasks

The ideal Candidate also has
  • Practical knowledge of information security best practices
  • Familiarity with networking technologies Including NAT (Network Address Translation), high availability, and load balancing
  • Ability to create and maintain project plans for system initiatives
  • Interest in helping transform systems and processes to handle sustained growth
