The American Society of Adaptation Professionals ("ASAP") seeks a full-time Program Coordinator to lead the implementation of various ASAP programs, member groups, and events. ASAP is the premier professional association and social impact network for the climate change adaptation and climate resilience community. Since its inception in 2015, ASAP has built its membership base through an inclusive and accessible model that welcomes all people who use climate information in their day-to-day work and who embrace the network values of trust, reciprocity, member leadership, open access, and transparency. 


ASAP's membership includes around 1,000 individuals and 40 organizations. ASAP Staff, Board of Directors, and membership intentionally focus on our evolving field as a space for all individuals and organizations working toward transformational change in adaptation practice to work and learn together. ASAP values the expertise of placed-based knowledge at every level of climate adaptation practice. 


ASAP's work and commitment to members is driven by a small team of professionals with a deep commitment to climate adaptation work through collaboration, personal commitment, continuous personal development and skills expansion, and building an intentional, respectful, and non-transactional culture within the staff and the organization.


The Program Coordinator will be an integral member of the ASAP Team with a critical role in enabling peer learning, collaboration, and capacity building for ASAP Members by supporting activities across ASAP's four program areas: 

  • Adaptation Careers: The Adaptation Careers Program helps members excel in their current jobs, find new ones, and learn what it means to work in the field of climate change adaptation.

  • ASAP Connects: The ASAP Connects Program provides infrastructure for members to find and interact with one another in person and virtually

  • Adaptation Voices: The Adaptation Voices Program shares and celebrates member stories and accomplishments

  • ASAP Serves: The ASAP Serves Program provides a myriad of opportunities for members to give back to the field of climate change adaptation


This is a permanent, at-will position. It includes an annual salary of $45,000-52,000 annually and a competitive benefits package. The location is U.S.-based but otherwise flexible. This position reports to ASAP's Executive Director.




Implement ASAP's capacity-building programs, projects, and events:

  • Recruit, onboard, and facilitate ongoing engagement for participants.

  • Support program and event marketing, as well as external projects.

  • Schedule meetings, program activities, and special events.

  • Participate in meetings for various external projects supporting ASAP's programs and members.

  • Correspond with participants, funders, volunteers, and vendors.

  • Facilitate program orientations, group meetings, and other program activities. 

  • Document and synthesize conversations during meetings, program activities, and events.


Nurture and grow the ASAP Network:

  • Cultivate positive relationships with individuals and groups of members.

  • Provide periodic orientations for individuals and groups to member services and programming.

  • Support engagement of organizational members in the network.

  • Facilitate training for ASAP member leaders.


Support the continuous improvement of ASAP’s programs:

  • Create and revise program and event materials.

  • Maintain program records and manage and analyze data and information generated through program activities.

  • Engage in or lead activities related to ASAP's external projects.

  • Write, revise, and edit written reports synthesizing outcomes of ASAP's activities, projects, and initiatives.

  • Develop recommendations for program and event improvements and contribute to strategy-setting conversations about existing and new programs.


Additionally, all ASAP staff support organizational management and advancement by:

  • Contributing ideas for member engagement and value creation.

  • Contributing to monitoring and evaluation activities, particularly timely and accurate reporting of inputs and outputs.

  • Participating in workplace development, team building, and strategy-setting activities

  • Identifying and reporting leads for donors, funders, sponsors, partners, and collaborators.


This position may require up to 10% domestic travel.

  • Familiarity with climate change adaptation concepts.
