Communications Specialist (Temporary)
ASAP seeks a communications professional to support and execute high-quality processes, campaigns, content, and services for ASAP's communication platforms: email, social media, website, and digital marketing materials for up to 40 hours per week. The person in this role will be an integral member of the ASAP Staff Team with a key role in sharing projects, program opportunities, and accomplishments and lifting up member stories to build the ASAP brand and strengthening the adaptation field by providing compelling, consistent, and timely communication to current and prospective ASAP members, partners, funders, and the media.
This position will be open until filled, with priority given to applications and proposals received by January 5, 2024. This position will run from February to May 2024 with an hourly rate between $25 and $35 per hour and is not eligible for fringe benefits. ASAP may fill this position with a consultant or a temporary staff position.
Responsibilities

Plan and manage content across ASAP's communication channels: email, social media, website, and other marketing materials.

Direct Email: Ensure timely production of ASAP's direct email campaigns via MailChimp, including standing member-facing publications, a monthly newsletter, and event/program promotions.

Social Media: Assist with ASAP's social media presence - centered on LinkedIn - to amplify ASAP and partner content and engage current and prospective ASAP Members.

Website: Maintain the ASAP website as a space where current and prospective members, partners, funders, and other stakeholders can easily access compelling messages about ASAP, timely information for engaging in ASAP, and valuable climate adaptation resources.

Marketing Materials: Plan for updates to existing marketing materials. Direct the design of new materials. Develop and manage processes for preparing print and digital versions of marketing materials in coordination with program and event staff.

Collaborate with the ASAP Staff Team to execute communications plans for programs and organizational advancement efforts
Additionally, all ASAP Staff support organizational management and advancement by:

Providing timely response to (or timely fielding of) member requests.

Participating in workplace development, team building, and strategy-setting activities.

Identifying and reporting leads for donors, funders, sponsors, partners, and collaborators.
Qualifications

Excellent oral and written communication, branding, and marketing skills

Prior experience in a communications-related role.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and systems simultaneously while paying attention to details

Fluency in creating campaigns and managing audiences in MailChimp

Proficiency with at least one common design software program; willingness to learn new design software and ability to use new software effectively.

Experience conducting website content updates.

Familiarity with climate change adaptation and social justice concepts.

Desire and ability to work both in a team and independently.

Interest in facilitating existing processes while also introducing new ideas

Fluency using video and audio calling, text, email, and digital calendar to connect and communicate across a remote team; and

Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar)
