VICE PRESIDENT, PRODUCT STRATEGY

The VP, Product Strategy will be responsible for research and analysis of the product landscape within NHC’s current categories and adjacent categories. He/she will recommend a long-term product roadmap for the company, including entries into adjacent product categories and new product formats, such as functional foods. He/she will recommend product-centric approaches to increase revenues that will allow the company to continue its rapid growth trajectory while supporting its brand promise of leading-edge innovation.

The person in this role will collaborate closely with the Chief Science Officer and Vice President of Marketing. He/she will be a member of NHC’s Executive Team. 

The VP, Product Strategy will spearhead shaping the product strategy as part of the executive team and will share accountability for achievement of NHC’s strategic and financial commitments. He/she will be directly accountable for ensuring that the product portfolio supports the strategic growth commitments of the business and aligns with NHC’s mission. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Employ a collaborative and data-driven approach to recommend a long-term product roadmap.

  • Conduct research and analysis of NHC’s current product market segments to identify adjacencies with potential to increase revenues.

  • Conduct landscape analysis of the product environment that NHC’s products occupy to identify new product opportunities or repositioning opportunities.

  • Analyze current products to guide investment decisions and identify approaches to improve performance. 

  • Conduct research on and assess the competitive landscape in current and potential new product market segments.

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in NHC’s market segments.

  • Foster a climate of innovation with respect to NHC’s products and product roadmap.  

  • Conduct research on existing and potential new audiences to determine needs, preferences and desired product features.

  • Recommend product-centric approaches to increase NHC’s revenues.

  • Recommend positioning, features and functions of future products.

  • Recommend pricing strategy for NHC’s range of products.

  • Recommend product strategy for NHC’s target markets and distribution channels.

  • Determine if repositioning of existing products could serve to augment revenues.

  • Evaluate NHC’s product strategy in selected international markets.

  • Strike a deliberate balance between optimizing for speed and certainty against investing in risky, high-potential projects.


SUCCESS CRITERIA

  • Performance will be evaluated based on individual goals and company financial metrics such as revenues and profit contribution relative to targets.

  

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Deep interest in optimization of human performance and quality of life.

  • 10-15 years of experience of product management or product marketing in the consumer products (FMCG) industry.

  • At least 2 years of experience in the nutritional supplements industry.

  • At least 2 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, ideally with functional foods.

  • Experience working across the product lifecycle, including marketing, competitor and customer analysis, pricing and product positioning, and product development.

  • Experience related to wholesale, retail and direct-to-consumer distribution is preferred.

  • Experience in the design, execution and analysis of consumer, competitor and product portfolio research.

  • A track record of increasing revenues through product-centric strategies.

  • A successful record of employing a data-driven approach to problem-solving and assessing opportunities.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment.

  • Evidence of success in fostering creative solutions with demonstrated results.

  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team context with strong listening and collaboration skills.

  • Must possess strong organizational, consultation and analytical skills.

  • Exemplary communication and influencing skills are essential. 

  • Advanced or professional degree desirable (e.g., PhD, MD, MBA).


MANAGEMENT

  • Reports to COO. 

  • A member of the Executive Team.

  • Collaborates closely with the Chief Science Officer and Vice President of Marketing.

  • This position currently does not have any direct reports.
