ABOUT THE POSITION

Over 12,000 patients are diagnosed with blood cancer in the United States for which a bone marrow transplant is the only hope for a cure. 70% of those patients relies on the Be the Match marrow registry to find a 100% compatible match. Join our team of dedicated and caring individuals to create awareness and engage the diverse community to join the Be the Match bone marrow registry as potential bone marrow donors. This position organizes and leads bone marrow donor registration events with special focus on the diverse communities, and within colleges and universities. 70% of the position requires conducting marrow drives/public speaking events within the community. 30% cold calling and creating partnerships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead recruitment drives within the community at colleges/universities, technical schools, corporations, and hospitals to increase the size and diversity of Be the Match, the national bone marrow registry.
  • Organize, manage and execute donor recruitment drives scheduled by area manager
  • Ability to create and present to small and large groups
  • Work with existing and find new volunteer base
  • Facilitate and train volunteers for marrow drives
  • Coordinate and prepare all drive related promotion material
  • Submit drive results through database system
  • Follow up with recruited individuals to answer questions and facilitate registration completion
  • Work as part of a team to surpass monthly goals
  • Maintaining positive business relationships to ensure future events
  • Serve as Icla da Silva Foundation spokesperson in the community
  • Maintain patient social media pages and promotion

 

KEY SKILLS:

  • B2C sales experience
  • Ability to cold call and create leads that can translate into marrow registration drives and speaking engagements
  • Proven work experience as a sales representative
  • Highly motivated and target driven with a proven track record in sales
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs
  • Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
  • Ability to meet with new clients face to face to discuss future partnership
  • Must be able to public speak to an audience from 20-400 people and have great presentation skills
  • Experience in networking and community outreach including the use of social media methods and tools with a variety of racially and ethnically diverse communities
  • Ability to manage and motivate groups of people from different backgrounds and situations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects
  • Ability to motivate and coordinate volunteers
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated
  • Goal driven
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email and calendaring applications, and the Internet.
  • Use of Salesforce Database a plus.
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is a plus
