Hercules Capital is looking for a Sr. Associate for the Life Science team. Sr. Associates collaborate very closely with Managing Directors and Principals to manage and expand Hercules Capital’s investment portfolio. Some of these responsibilities include evaluating investment opportunities in the Life Science space by conducting financial analysis, business diligence and market assessment; conducting detailed due diligence & preparing investment reports for Investment Committee; and managing the existing portfolio of Hercules Capital Life Science investments.

• Reviewing investment opportunities by analyzing business models, investment pitches, and conducting industry assessments.

• Conducting financial diligence, with the support of Analysts, to analyze and draw conclusions regarding companies’ financial position, including key metrics, financial trends, and capital needs.

• Interacting with company management, financial sponsors and industry participants.

• Creating reports (memos and financial models) analyzing findings for purposes of internal discussions and presentation to Investment Committee.

• Managing multiple projects, stepping in as the project lead to guide a team of Analysts and Associates.

• Managing the existing portfolio as a key liaison between Hercules Capital and the portfolio companies, ensuring portfolio compliance with reporting, financial performance, and product development milestones.

• Researching various sectors and subsectors within the Life Science space; running screens, reports and providing any additional analysis support as needed.

• Other duties and projects as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree with five to seven years of related experience in a lending, financial, banking, or consulting environment; or Master’s degree with three to five years of related experience. Life Science transaction experience will be preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

• Proven analytical, presentation and project skills are critical.

• Comprehensive understanding of financial statements is essential

• Excellent financial modeling skills incorporating Microsoft Excel.

• Experience with MS Office applications is required.

• Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment handling multiple projects at any given time.

• Familiarity with research tools such as S&P Capital IQ, Factset, Bloomberg, Pitchbook, Venture Source, among others.
