The Role:
The Chief Market Development Officer (“CMDO”) will join the inaugural team at IFVI and partner with the CEO and COO to design and implement the organization’s market development strategy. The CMDO will be responsible for generating widespread evidence of global market adoption of impact valuation, through which IFVI will make the case that impact valuation is feasible and valuable to investors, corporates, and regulators. Through networks, partnerships, and direct operations, the CMDO will lead multiple workstreams to increase the use of impact valuation in diverse geographies and industries. The CMDO will work closely with the Chief Research Officer to apply learning from public consultations, stakeholder engagements, and market use of impact valuation to IFVI's research and methodology development.

What you will do:

  • Design and implement a strategy to drive market adoption and advancement of impact valuation
  • Work with IFVI leadership to integrate impact into global regulation and interpretive guidance
  • Develop external tools and resources for education and market awareness of impact valuation
  • Test impact valuation methodologies with corporates and investors across geographies, industries, and market capitalization, coordinating with our partner organization Value Balancing Alliance
  • Drive development of interoperable data and software solutions for impact monetization
  • Support impact monetization practices within accounting, assurance, and consulting firms globally, including development and uptake of audit/assurance standard for impact valuation, impact statements (that show revenues, costs, and impacts in monetary terms), and fully integrated financial reports
  • Establish and scale uptake of accreditation program in impact to build market capacity
  • Work closely with Communications Manager to produce and disseminate evidence of the uptake and use of impact valuation for resource allocation and managerial decision-making
  • Maintain awareness and familiarity of developments, trends, and regulatory developments in corporate sustainability disclosure


What we are looking for:

  • 10-12 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience building, maintaining, and leveraging relationships in a fast-paced, mission-oriented organization
  • Experience designing and implementing work programs, including setting and meeting ambitious KPIs
  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated success meeting targets with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate cross-functionally within an organization and maintain highly professional communication with external parties
  • Ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences, including different types of stakeholders and different levels of experience with finance, accounting, or corporate disclosure
  • Experience effectively managing employees with varying roles, responsibilities, backgrounds, skills, and experience
  • Proficiency in Salesforce (or other CRM) and Microsoft Office
  • Strong English language verbal and written communication skills
  • Additional beneficial skills and experience: Proficiency in financial and non-financial reporting and corporate sustainability disclosure; experience facilitating stakeholder engagement processes and public consultation processes
