Opportunity Summary:  

A successful Product Manager will be energized by puzzles and figuring out how to fit pieces of a complex web together!  The Product Manager is key to translating, configuring, and communicating with the Community Collider (The Contingent’s hub for marketing, CX, technology, and data and impact) to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in the product builds to serve existing and new jurisdictions. This work is entrepreneurial and innovative looking for creative ways to serve the unique needs that exist for Every Child partners and customers. 

The leadership of this individual will result in The Contingent’s ability to respond effectively, accurately, and in a timely manner to the needs on the ground, increasing collaboration and synchronicity between the multiple activities.  

Personifying our core values (listening, innovation, accountability, radical hospitality, action), this role will think out-of-the-box to solve the needs of kids and families impacted by foster care through a collaborative approach with partners in all new jurisdictions who are serving this population every day. This role will report to the Director of Product. 

The launch of Every Child into areas outside of Oregon continues in 2024, and with it comes much learning for The Contingent. This leader will continue to build a scoping and launching strategy and structure that can be replicated in future jurisdictions. As a new role, the product manager will be responding to the needs and requests of community partners while balancing those needs with The Contingent’s deliverables, timelines, and resources.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

Product and Project Management  

  • Utilize organizational pillars for collective impact to gather feedback, co-design, and follow up with partner organizations on The Contingent’s Every Child product in existing jurisdictions  

  • Lead structure for feedback loop from partner organizations on product builds, translating feedback into specifications in partnership with design and engineering. 

  • Build and manage sprints to meet target deadlines and lead training of partner organizations around the Every Child product. 

  • Listen for opportunities to innovate around the product and provide opportunity assessments for the growth of our Every Child product. 

  • Partner with Executive Director of National Expansion to provide regular updates to child welfare agency leadership throughout listening, scoping, and building of Every Child product. 

  • Manage budget, resources, and expectations to deliver on requests. 

 

Communication 

  • Lead meeting cadence and participate in established meeting rhythms to communicate product capabilities, changes, updates, and deliverables to stakeholders  

  • Partner with Organizational Communications Strategist on branded and streamlined communication to Network partners about The Contingent, Air Game products, and the Every Child model. 

  • Lead proactive communication around product rollouts and improvements with partners throughout the build  

 

Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree required 

  • 3-5 years of experience in product management, with proven experience in building consensus, launching new products and features 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Experience building and improving customer facing products in partnership with design and engineering. 

  • The ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse, perpetually changing environment, while maintaining a calm and positive spirit. 

  • Experience in successfully working with a diverse group of constituents utilizing multi-cultural intelligence, intentional listening, appreciation, and respect 

  • Clear evidence of working in an entrepreneurial environment with quick program start-up experience  

  • The role is technical, relational, and entrepreneurial, and requires a candidate with initiative, energy for building innovative solutions, and who can translate programmatic needs into technical language   

  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365, or another CRM (Customer Relations Management) platform 

  • Experience working on marketing and lead generation solutions is valued, but not required.

Employment Terms, Accountability, and Compensation: 

  • Full Time (40hrs) exempt, annual pay range $81,00 – 97,000 (estimated total compensation: $91,000  – $107,000) 

  • Starting placement will not exceed this starting pay range and is based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. 

  • This is a hybrid position in Portland, Oregon 

  • This position is part of a collaborative matrix management framework  

  • The Contingent has a flexible work model that supports a blend of in-office, remote, virtual, and on-the-go workers  

  • We have team members in multiple time zones. To facilitate collaboration, core hours for this position are 9-2 pm PST (7- 12 pm HST, 11-4pm CST, 12-5pm EST) 

  • This position will be expected to work within The Contingent’s hybrid work policy (2-3 days in the office, 2-3 days from home) 

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
