Opportunity Summary:
As the Sr. UX UI Designer you guide the work of designers who will apply user-centered design principles to improve the workflow, expand functionality, and enhance the visual appeal of The Contingent’s websites and products. Leading a team of designers, you will work collaboratively with other members of the organization to ensure that products and services meet customer and stakeholder needs. You will be involved in the design of products and services for specific target groups and end users and will need to understand motivations. Leading the development of the overall design philosophy for products, you will ensure that UI design projects align with and support broader organizational initiatives and direction.
The Sr. UX/UI Designer will have experience in designing complex applications, systems, and workflows. This position will play a crucial role in contributing to the design of our product with a focus on enhancing user experience and optimizing user flows. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest or aptitude in the technical specifics of the applications they are working on, as well as experience in customer engagement optimization and data-driven decision-making.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Managing budgets, resources, and timelines effectively to optimize productivity and deliver projects within allocated resources.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders, to gather requirements, understand user needs, and translate them into innovative design solutions.

Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to inform design decisions, iterating designs based on user insights and data-driven analysis.

Work with a team of designers to develop wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity visual designs to effectively communicate design concepts and interactions.

Collaborate with the development team to ensure accurate implementation of design elements, while considering technical constraints and system limitations.

Optimize landing pages and user flows through A/B testing, data analysis, and continuous iteration to improve conversion rates, user engagement, and overall product performance.

Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the field of product design, and proactively apply them to improve our design process and deliver exceptional user experiences.

Research user pain points and strategize ways to improve products.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders, UX designers, product managers, engineers, and other personnel to meet organizational goals

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in human-centered design, computer science, UX/UI design or a related field, or the equivalent work experience.

Five plus years of professional UX/UI design experience.

Strong portfolio displaying your design expertise, including examples of projects that have been optimized over time for performance.
Qualifications:

Proven Experience: Extensive experience as a UX/UI Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful design projects.

Proficiency in Design Tools: Expertise in design software such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools like InVision or Axure.

Strong Understanding of UX Principles: Deep knowledge of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards.

Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to articulate design concepts and rationale clearly to stakeholders and team members.

Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address design challenges effectively.

Educational Background: Bachelor's or master's degree in design, Human-centered design, or a related field.

Experience with Front-End Development: Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to collaborate effectively with developers and their impact on design decisions.

Knowledge of Design Systems: Familiarity with design systems and frameworks like Material Design or Bootstrap.

Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
Additional Skills:

Experience in UI/UX design working with graphics and designing modern, intuitive, user-friendly interfaces complex applications, and integrations with 3rd party systems a plus.

Employment Terms, Accountability, and Compensation:

Full Time (40hrs) exempt annual salary offered at a range of $95,000 - $105,000 (estimated total compensation $105,000 -$115,000) doe.

Starting placement will not exceed this starting salary range and is based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

This a hybrid position in Portland, Oregon.

The Contingent has a flexible work model that supports a blend of in-office, remote, virtual and on the go workers.

This position will be expected to work within The Contingent’s hybrid work policy (2-3 days in the office, 2-3 days from home). Daily schedule and in office days will result from collaboration between the employee and their supervisor.

We have team members located in multiple time zones. To facilitate collaboration across teams, core hours for this position are 9-2 pm PST (7- 12 pm HST, 11-4pm CST, 12-5pm EST).
