GLAAD operates with support from foundations, corporations, and individuals from every corner of the United States. Our highly skilled team of more than 60 staff works out of our Headquarters in New York, Los Angeles, and remotely.
THE OPPORTUNITY
GLAAD is actively searching for a highly motivated and dedicated Staff Accountant & Executive Admin to join its Finance team. This dual role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to GLAAD's vital mission through both meticulous financial management and comprehensive administrative support. This role will report to the Chief Financial Officer with dotted line reporting into the Controller and must be located in the New York Metropolitan area.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, demonstrated through relevant experience and/or education, and will be adept at managing various financial tasks. Beyond the numbers, exceptional organizational skills are paramount for success in this role, encompassing efficient time management, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities seamlessly. Crucially, a genuine passion for LGBTQ advocacy and a commitment to GLAAD's goals are essential, as this individual will play an integral part in supporting an organization at the forefront of promoting acceptance and understanding.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Payable/Receivable:

Manage AP: vendor balances, inquiries, and payments, ensuring timely and correct invoice posting

Perform regular credit card reconciliation

Assist with expense report coding and document review

Review expense reports, analyze data, and explain variances

Respond to staff inquiries regarding invoices and expense reports

Prepare 1099s and assist with other tax-related documents
-
Record receivables issued by the development department in NetSuite
-
Match deposits against outstanding receivables
-
Verify budget availability for large purchases
-
Maintain a list of recurring vendor/contract payments
Cash Management:
- Review daily bank deposits

Work with the development department and the controller to record revenue

Prepare the daily deposit reports

Prepare a weekly cash analysis report
-
Record and maintain cash receipts, revenue schedules, and documents
Audit Support & Month-End/Year-End Close:
- Assist with year-end external audit, schedules, and compliance

Support closing processes and report preparation

Investigate and resolve discrepancies

Assist with financial planning and budgeting
Administration:

Handle general admin: document/presentation management, scheduling meetings, creating agendas, and arranging travel/accommodations for the CFO

Conduct ad hoc projects and provide additional support to the executive team

Finance Orientation for new hire employees - Training, Guidance on how to use 3rd party systems: Concur, Nexonia, Credit card platform, etc.

EXPERIENCE | EDUCATION:

A bachelor’s degree in accounting or another business degree is highly preferred

3+ years of non-profit accounting/admin experience in a restricted funding environment is required

Compensation
A competitive salary commensurate with experience is $85,000-$100,000. Benefits include 403(b) retirement plan participation; escalating vacation beginning with 19 days plus holidays; and organization-paid health benefits, including medical, dental, vision, healthcare, and dependent options; flex spending accounts; and life and long-term disability insurance.
