Position Summary: 

The Research Coordinator at the PKD Foundation will provide administrative and programmatic support to optimize research and community support initiatives. Key responsibilities include managing communications, tracking research grants, coordinating mission timelines, and supporting grant programs. This role requires strong organizational skills, customer service, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with various stakeholders. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Provide administrative support to optimize efficiency within the Community Support and Resources team. 

  • Provide administrative support to optimize efficiency within the Research Programs team. 

  • Manage and monitor research and education email inboxes and general phone inquiries; triage messages as needed. 

  • Provide constituent service support for the Grant, Fellowship, and COE programs  

  • Assist with the coordination of mission program timelines and grant processes. 

  • Customer service support for the Grants, Fellowships, and Registry programs. 

  • Utilize Excel to track PKD research grants from the PKD Foundation, NIH, and DOD.  

  • Coordinate reimbursements for Grant Review meeting. 

  • Gather and provide updates to the Marketing team for the Clinical Trials webpage. 

  • Support Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) process to ensure policies are updated and organized. 

  • Assist with the coordination and distribution of program specific emails. 

  • Coordination with finance team to ensure timely and accurate invoice processing and payment. 

  • Coordinate outside conference needs, including reservations, booth materials, and travel.  

  • Coordinate distribution of event materials and resources to volunteer leadership and program coordinators as needed. 

  • Assist in the preparation of presentations, reports, and other project-related documentation. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Ideal Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in non-profit management, public health, or other health and human service-related field. 

  • One to three years’ experience in a research related support role.  

  • Demonstrated familiarity with patient-centered research.  

  • Familiarity with Good Clinical Practice guidelines preferred but not required 

  • Experience with Proposal Central ideal but not required.  

  • Committed to acquiring a working knowledge of the basics of ADPKD and ARPKD. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills  

  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, and vendor partners; High degree of professionalism.     

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to problem solve.  

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.  

  • Strong organizational and project management skills; proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously.  

  • Demonstrable track record of initiative, resourcefulness, and willingness to learn.  

  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment, managing multiple priorities, and deadlines while also serving as a support member of a multi-departmental team.  

  • Familiarity with remote office settings, including video communications (Zoom) and virtual meetings.  

 

Physical Demands: 

 

  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. 

  • Use hands and arms, read, stoop, crouch, talk, hear, and see objects clearly at 20 inches or less. 

  • Lift and move items weighing up to 20 lbs.

Work Location and Travel Requirements: 

 

  • Position is remote, home-based, available in any U.S. state.  

  • Employee must have dedicated workspace free from distractions. 

  • The workspace should be large enough to work efficiently and have reliable internet and phone connectivity. 

  • Employees residing outside of the Kansas City Metro must live within reasonable proximity to a major airport hub for required travel.  

  • Occasional business travel will be required to the PKD Foundation office in Kansas City, Missouri.

As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, PKDF provides a range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. Multiple   

factors may be used to determine your actual salary, including: your specific skills and experience, physical location, or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets.   

 

The anticipated pay range for this role is $20-$25 per hour.
