About the Role

The QC Operator will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of video and audio content by conducting thorough quality control checks across various media files.  This includes HD and UHD/Dolby Vision Video, as well as Stereo and Surround Sound Audio. The QC Operator should have a keen eye for visual and technical details, a solid understanding of post-production processes.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive quality control checks on video and audio content to ensure adherence to technical specifications, industry standards, and client guidelines
  • Identify and report any visual, audio, or technical anomalies, ensuring that the final product meets the highest standards of quality.
  • Familiarity with various video and audio formats, codecs, resolutions, color space, dynamic range, and compression standards.
  • Verify the correct implementation of video and audio specifications, including resolution, aspect ratio, frame rate, color space, and audio levels.
  • Ability to correctly identify and report on anomalies within video and audio content (i.e. digital “hits”, dropouts, clicks, pops, etc.)
  • Ability to identify issues related to HDR color grading and Dolby vision sync.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including video/audio editors, client services, and technical staff, to address and resolve quality issues.
  • Communicate QC findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Create and update accurate QC Reports, noting issues and resulting corrections when addressed.
  • Work closely with the production team to document and update QC procedures as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 ​​​Required Skills:

  • Proven experience as a QC Operator or similar role in the post-production industry.
  • Strong understanding of HDR post-production workflows file formats, and compression techniques.
  • Strong understanding of video and audio broadcast standards and requirements for compliant transmission
  • Familiarity with editing software and quality control tools (Davinci Resolve, GrayMeta Iris, ProTools, Mediainfo).
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong ethic for working with confidential information.

Qualifications:

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., film production, media studies) or equivalent work experience in applicable field strongly preferred.

 

 Experience:

  • Minimum 2 plus years’ experience in working at an entertainment or media company.


*This position is based in Stamford, CT 06902 and is an in-office-based position.   

**This position may be required to work 9:00 - 5:30 pm , 6 am-2:30 pm or 3:30 pm-12 am, or other shift as required by work need,  plus overtime depending on business needs. This position is flexible and may start out as PT and move to FT depending on the business needs
