About the Position

As a Design Engineer at Mission Mobile Medical your objective is to understand the vision of a project, analyze the challenges and opportunities associated with that vision, present what success could look like, and then take action to achieve that success. 

General Tasks

  • Participate in engineering team alignment meetings where the goals of the day and week are reviewed.
  • Provide Sales with feedback regarding new project feasibility, alternatives, and timing.
  • Meet with Project Leaders to discuss a project’s status.
  • Produce CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings that effectively communicate the vision for the vehicle to the manufacturing team.
  • Work with the manufacturing team to ensure the best possible solution is being produced in the allotted timeframe.
  • Maintain the documentation associated with your current projects including requirement and conceptual documents, correspondence, specifications/BOMs, CAD models/assemblies/drawings, drawing revisions, and operation directions specific to each project.
  • Provide Client Services with technical knowledge as needed.
  • Aid in the development of best practices for the engineering department, contribute ideas for accomplishing team goals and strategies.
  • Work on long term projects such as part standardization, standard procedures, new part and process R&D, etc.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in an appropriate engineering field OR 2-year degree in an equivalent technical program with additional experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience working in a custom fabrication and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Expert using Solidworks (2020+) and modern Microsoft products.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems such as bearings, linkages, trusses, etc.
  • Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, AC/DC power, and residential plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge relating to cabinet building and/or ERP systems would be a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, a self-starter.
  • Detail oriented ensuring precise measurements and accurate deliverables.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a timely fashion that meets scheduled deadlines.

Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate their engineering and SolidWorks ability during the interview.

Work Environment

Work will typically be performed in an office and manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on job that requires interaction with the manufacturing team in addition to office-based teams.

Salary & Benefits

80 PTO hours available after first 60 days of service.

First Year Success

Day 0-30

  • Understand the company’s mission and vision.
  • Ability to locate data within the existing file system.
  • Understand software: primarily Teams and Asana.
  • Start to aid in model, assembly, and drawing creation.
  • Understand how an RV functions: water, heating, electrical, winterization, etc.
  • Create Operations Overview for vehicles.

Day 30-90

  • 95%-100% understanding of Teams and Asana functionality.
  • Ability to explain RV functionality to someone with no technical experience.
  • Independently create models, assemblies, and drawings based on existing processes.
  • Start to answer technical questions from manufacturing.

Day 90-180

  • Capable of providing all necessary engineering information to manufacturing.
  • Start investigating process and product improvements.
  • Begin working with ERP system.
  • Start scheduling your engineering tasks in Asana.

Day 180-360

  • Start rolling out system improvements and new/improved products.
  • Ability to work within the ERP system adding parts to BOMs.
  • Start scheduling all engineering tasks in Asana.
  • By the end of your first year, create a vision and goals for the department in the next six months and year.
