Position: Accountant- Japan

Role Overview:

As an Accountant for Jacques Marie Mage, you will be part of our Finance team in Japan where the company is deeply invested with local manufacturers and direct distribution. You will have at least 4-5 years of experience, with exposure to full cycle closing processing and a solid level of reporting and compliance. You will report to the Accounting  Manager and will work on-site in our Tokyo office.

Your responsibilities are – but are not limited to:

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the company's financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts .receivable, inventory management and payroll.

  • Coordinating with Jacques Marie Mage Headquarters in Los Angeles, supervise closing processes and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.

  • Coordinate Treasury activities.

  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards and regulations.

  • Support the local leadership team with legal and HR related matters. 

  • Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement financial policies and procedures.

  • Assist with audits and tax filings as needed (outsourced to a third-party consulting company).

 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Bilingual in Japanese and English

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multinational company.

  • Solid command of English is required

  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Familiarity with NetSuite is a plus.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
