Applied Visions, on behalf of our client, seeks a software engineer with a combined hardware/software background to help build an exciting new hardware/software product for the emergency services vehicle industry. This is a full-time position, working for our client in their Long Island facility. Our client is the largest independent service company in their market, and is pursuing new product initiatives. This is a ground-floor opportunity to be part of an exciting new direction for the company.

 

The successful candidate will have experience building production-quality cloud applications that interact with custom hardware systems, preferably in the automotive or transit space. Personal or professional experience with vehicle systems and mechanics is a plus.

 

You will be responsible for collaborating with external hardware vendors and collaborating and managing custom software development contractors, while also contributing hands-on to the development of the product’s software and firmware. You will work on real fielded products in a state-of-the-art Agile Software Development environment. And you will work closely with senior company management to bring this product to market.

 

You will work at all levels of the application’s tech stack. This application is being built to run on Amazon AWS, with .NET Core and MySQL, PHP/Laravel, and ReactJS. Experience with firmware development on embedded Linux is a plus, but not required.

 

A B.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is required. Demonstrated experience working on integrated hardware/software applications of this nature is required.
