The Role

DRINKS is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to be part of the Business Intelligence team to build and manage the complete end-to-end BI infrastructure and support the Business Users with advanced data analytics. This role’s main duties will include designing and developing efficient data pipelines, manage and lead technical design and development activities for implementation of cloud data solutions in Redshift/Snowflake to support multiple use cases like (behavioral segmentation, retention analytics, customer communication analytics etc.) and performing adhoc analysis as required. The successful candidate would be an independent self-starter who can adapt to a fast-paced environment who is an expert in building ETL/ELT processes, data modelling and transformations.

 

What You'll Do

- Develop and manage the ELT/ETL data processes to support the DRINKS reporting

- Lead design and development of technology and data architectures to support new company initiatives like new partnership launches and new marketing technology system integrations

- Work with other teams (marketing, finance, operations etc.)  to understand their requirements and translate the business context into sophisticated data pipelines for report and dashboard development to help data-driven decisions across the company

- Manipulate large datasets with sophisticated SQL queries to support adhoc data requests from different teams

- Create processes to analyze customer order and behavior metrics to optimize advertising and retention programs

- Conceptualize and own the data architecture to manage the cloud data warehouse migration from Redshift to Snowflake

- Reconcile data inconsistencies and ensure data integrity

- Support any other special projects as needed

 

About You

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology or a related quantitative field of study

- 4+ years of experience in extracting and transforming data

- Advanced level expertise in writing complex SQL queries to extract or transform data or answer ad hoc questions using operations like aggregations, window functions or similar.

- Ability to work with cloud data platforms like Redshift, Snowflake, Amazon Aurora and others.

- Experience implementing advanced data pipelines to handle large volumes of data using ETL/ELT tools like Matillion, Apache Airflow, Alteryx or others (Matillion experience preferred)

- Knowledge of scripting languages like Python and/or R for data manipulation, statistical modelling and other advanced analytics operations

- Familiarity with best practices in implementing a Data Warehouse/Lakehouse architecture, data validation and testing

- Advanced-level experience with MS Excel to be able to perform data cleaning and analysis.

- Excellent analytical and organizational skills with a proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high performing team

- High attention to detail

- Must be able to effectively liaise with other departments

 

Bonus points for

- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau

- Familiarity with financial modeling and forecasting

- Familiarity with customer surveying tools (e.g. Survey Monkey, Qualtrics) and methods and metrics such as NPS, Max Diff testing, survey branching and piping
