We are looking for a manager that is looking to obtain accelerated learning and career growth in a dynamic environment. The Technical Accounting Manager will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of the company's financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and other relevant accounting standards. This role will oversee complex accounting issues, implement new accounting standards, and provide guidance on technical accounting matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments. This position reports directly to the Director of Technical Accounting and works closely with other accounting team members, finance, legal and tax.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition (ASC 606 and 944), lease accounting, business combinations, equity transactions, and consolidation.

  • Implement new accounting standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Conduct research on technical accounting issues and document conclusions in technical memos.

  • Coordinate with external auditors during the audit process and address audit queries and findings.

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures and controls to ensure consistent and accurate financial reporting.

  • Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to stay current with accounting standards and best practices.

  • Provide training and mentorship to junior accounting staff on technical matters.

  • This position assumes and performs other projects as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration or related field required

  • CPA required

  • 5+ years of experience in technical accounting, preferably within the health insurance or healthcare industry.

  • Preference given to candidates with public accounting experience
