SUMMARY 

We are looking for an energetic Staff Accountant looking to obtain accelerated learning and experience in a fast-paced, high growth health insurance environment.

 

Our health insurance organization is currently seeking an entry level Staff Accountant based in Austin, TX. The Staff Accountant will perform a variety of generalized aspects of accounting within the company, including reconciliation tasks, day to day, monthly and year end tasks, obligation tracking and assisting in preparation of financial statements. A successful candidate will possess excellent data analysis, start-up flexibility, superior time management and prioritization skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Records claim payable and accounts receivable transactions in Accounting ERP system 

  • Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances

  • Prepares monthly reconciliations for various accounts, including accounts receivable, pharmacy accruals, and claims bank accounts.

  • Assist in the preparation of statutory reporting financial statements for insurance companies

  • Supports improvements to financial processes and procedures, including implementation of Model Audit Rule internal controls.

  • Participates in special projects and external/internal audits as required

  • This position assumes and performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience with NetSuite ERP System is a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Team player with ability to meet deadlines, who is also self motivated and can contribute independently 

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross functionally across teams

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills - comfortable with pivot tables, v-lookups and match or willingness to learn

  • Authorized to work in the US

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field required (3.0 GPA or greater)
