We have an immediate opening for a Senior Process Engineer. This role will be a subject matter expert for chemical process engineering and will be responsible for developing detailed design packages and leading the execution of projects to install and upgrade specialty gas and chemical processing systems. This role will also provide technical support to assess and troubleshoot existing plant systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

•    Develop preliminary and detailed engineering packages for chemical processing systems to implement capital projects at all EFC sites.
•    Apply project management principles to lead the execution of capital projects through the engineering, procurement, construction, and startup phases.  
•    Provide technical support for existing plant systems by assessing root causes of plant performance issues and equipment failures, developing and implementing practical solution plans, and coordinating field work as necessary. 
•    Develop, assess, and summarize the tradeoffs of multiple design concepts as it relates to stated business objectives and make recommendations to stakeholder groups (Operations, Maintenance, Sales, etc.) that include an assessment of capital expenditure, operating expenditure, operability, maintainability, reliability, capacity, efficiency, and other critical factors.
•    Develops models and simulations of design concepts to assess their technical performance and to inform technical and business decisions. 
•    Progressively develop design concepts from block flow diagram through detailed P&IDs.
•    Apply theory as well as R&D and pilot system data to scale processes to high volume manufacturing. 
•    Specify and size chemical processing equipment (heat exchangers, piping, valves, heaters, chillers, distillation columns, compressors, etc.). 
•    Manage external contractors (engineering firms, consultants, fabricators, trades, etc.) as needed to meet project goals.
•    Develop scope documents, execution plans, and bid packages to facilitate execution of project work by multiple parties internal and external.
•    Develop schedule and cost estimates and track project cost and schedule performance throughout the project lifecycle. 
•    Lead process hazard analyses (PHA’s) and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to assess process design risks and identify appropriate process controls and mitigations
•    Complete code reviews and hazard assessments to ensure compliance to all state and federal regulations.
•    Design purification systems (including distillation columns) for high complexity / high hazard gas and chemical products.
•    Assess and recommend modifications to existing distillation systems to remove additional impurities.
•    Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

•    Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and 5-10 years related experience.
•    Experience with UHP specialty gases and advanced materials in the semiconductor and/or aerospace industry
•    Experience with Distillation from design through implementation for high volume manufacturing.
•    Experience with process controls and automation including programming, implementation, and troubleshooting of PLC systems.
•    Computer skills required: Contract Management Systems; Development Software; Inventory Software; Microsoft Office; Project Management Software, AutoCAD or similar. 
•    Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
