Position Overview:
The VP of Engineering will spearhead the development and execution of large-scale data warehouse projects, primarily focusing on managing relationships with third-party contractors. This role requires a strategic leader who can ensure that project milestones are met efficiently and effectively while maintaining the highest standards of data integrity and security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, extensive experience in managing large data warehouses, and a proven track record of successful contractor management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management and Execution:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale data warehouse projects.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet high-quality standards.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure smooth project progression.
- Contractor Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with third-party contractors.
- Negotiate contracts, manage contractor performance, and ensure compliance with company standards and project requirements.
- Implement effective communication channels and project management tools to monitor the progress of contractors.
- Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team.
- Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies related to data warehousing and contractor management tools.
- Ensure the engineering team and contractors adhere to best practices in data management, security, and privacy.
- Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with senior management to define the strategic direction for data warehouse projects.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Allocate resources effectively and manage budgets to maximize return on investment.
- Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the team.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and facilitate professional growth opportunities for team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large-scale data warehouse projects.
- Proven experience in managing third-party contractors and ensuring successful project delivery.
- Strong technical background with a deep understanding of data warehouse architectures, ETL processes, and big data technologies.
- Excellent project management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of engineers and other professionals.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable plans.
