Position Overview:


The VP of Engineering will spearhead the development and execution of large-scale data warehouse projects, primarily focusing on managing relationships with third-party contractors. This role requires a strategic leader who can ensure that project milestones are met efficiently and effectively while maintaining the highest standards of data integrity and security. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, extensive experience in managing large data warehouses, and a proven track record of successful contractor management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management and Execution:
    1. Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale data warehouse projects.
    2. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet high-quality standards.
    3. Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure smooth project progression.
  2. Contractor Management:
    1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with third-party contractors.
    2. Negotiate contracts, manage contractor performance, and ensure compliance with company standards and project requirements.
    3. Implement effective communication channels and project management tools to monitor the progress of contractors.
  3. Technical Leadership:
    1. Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team.
    2. Stay abreast of the latest industry trends and technologies related to data warehousing and contractor management tools.
    3. Ensure the engineering team and contractors adhere to best practices in data management, security, and privacy.
  4. Strategic Planning:
    1. Collaborate with senior management to define the strategic direction for data warehouse projects.
    2. Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance productivity and efficiency.
    3. Allocate resources effectively and manage budgets to maximize return on investment.
  5. Team Development:
    1. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
    2. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the team.
    3. Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and facilitate professional growth opportunities for team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large-scale data warehouse projects.
  • Proven experience in managing third-party contractors and ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Strong technical background with a deep understanding of data warehouse architectures, ETL processes, and big data technologies.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of engineers and other professionals.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable plans.
