The After School Teen Activity Specialist (006) will be responsible for planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating departmental programs, activities and events and providing individual guidance and referrals as needed for our Junior Academy members (13-18 years old). We are offering an exciting opportunity for an After School Teen Activity Specialist (006) at our Navy Yard Clubhouse (006) located in Brooklyn, NY.

 

This is a part-time position working up to 25 hours a week Monday through Friday in the afternoon.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the After School Teen Activity Specialist (006) Position:

  • Assist with planning and developing recreation programs in order to ensure that activities and events are made available for all members.
  • Implement recreation programs to ensure that members have access to sport, recreation and leisure activities.
  • Administer recreation programs to ensure that programs are delivered within guidelines and budgets.
  • Promote recreational programs in order to ensure that members are aware of available opportunities and activities.
  • Ensure recreation facilities and maintained in order to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriate environment for recreation activities.

 

Required Skills/Knowledge for the After School Teen Activity Specialist (006) Position:

  • A high school diploma is required, some college experience is preferred and at least 1 year of experience in youth development.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct and supervise personnel, recreational programs and services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages 13-18 as well as a range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must be highly motivated and dedicated to the organizational mission.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
