Benchmark International is seeking driven, motivated students to join our team for a single-semester internship in one of the following offices Tampa, Nashville, Austin, Denver, or Los Angeles. This internship provides an opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of functions within a global mergers & acquisitions (M&A) firm. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals across the organization and will participate in meaningful projects that support Benchmark International’s mission of helping clients navigate the sale of their businesses.
Interns will assist in collecting, organizing, and analyzing confidential business information, learning how companies prepare to enter the M&A market. Through exposure to financial statements, corporate documents, industry research, and client communications, interns will gain insight into business valuation concepts, market dynamics, and professional best practices.
Benchmark International will work with each intern to determine weekly hours, with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week, on a regularly scheduled basis, for at least 8 weeks. This internship is in-office only and not available in a hybrid or remote format.
Key Responsibilities
As an intern, you will receive guidance and training from Benchmark International professionals with decades of combined experience in the M&A industry. Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with the review, organization, and analysis of client-provided business information, including financial statements, operational data, and corporate documents
- Conducting industry and market research to support internal initiatives and client projects
- Supporting the preparation, revision, and organization of internal or client-facing materials
- Helping maintain accuracy within Benchmark International’s customer relationship management (CRM) systems
- Assisting in the coordination of communications with clients and external parties, including collecting information, responding to inquiries, and summarizing findings
- Preparing written summaries, reports, or data visualizations that convey insights clearly and professionally
- Learning to identify potential business risks, value drivers, and opportunities through guided analysis
- Participating in special projects or tasks as assigned by various departments throughout the company
- Adhering to all Benchmark International policies and maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information
Requirements
We are looking for energetic, motivated individuals who demonstrate a strong desire to learn and contribute. Ideal candidates will possess:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and prioritization abilities
- Analytical and mathematical skills, with familiarity in financial concepts preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn new software tools
- Experience or comfort with online research (e.g., publicly available databases, industry sources)
- Professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to succeed in a high-performance setting
- No prior involuntary surrender of a real estate license and no history of enforcement actions by the SEC, FINRA, or state regulatory bodies
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at an accredited university or college, preferably with a concentration in Business, Finance, Marketing, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Ability to work on-site in one of our offices - Tampa, Nashville, Austin, Denver, Los Angeles
Benefits
Internship positions are part-time, temporary positions and, therefore, are not eligible for benefits.
Salary
Work will be performed on an hourly basis at $14 per hour. This is a non-exempt position, and overtime will be paid at statutory rates as required by applicable law; however, our Intern is highly encouraged to work only 40 hours per week and as a result overtime and overtime pay should not be expected.
