JOB SUMMARY & DESCRIPTION

AC Wellness Network is an independent medical practice exclusively dedicated to delivering compassionate, effective healthcare to the Apple employee population at the Apple Wellness Centers in Santa Clara Valley, including the new Apple Park Wellness Center. Under the direct supervision of the Medical Director, the phlebotomist is responsible for phlebotomy, accessioning, receiving and specimen processing, report distribution. Assists in the training of new employees and/or students as needed. Completes assignments with accuracy and in a timely manner without comprising the quality of the patient sample. Exercises good judgment in recognizing and correcting irregularities and/or unusual requests. Performs other miscellaneous duties or special projects as assigned. Complies with all aspects of the job according to written procedure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Proven organizational skills, great interpersonal skills, and ability to work as a key team member.
  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Apple products (iMac, iPad, iPhone).
  • Ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes
  • Perform blood draws competently and expediently with as little patient discomfort as possible
  • Demonstrate knowledge of color top tube to use, volume of blood needed and test requirements
  • Complete assigned duties efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Prioritize STAT, scheduled, and outpatient orders
  • Seek guidance and direction when necessary
  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Phlebotomy certification (where required) from an accredited agency
  • Completion of an approved phlebotomy training course (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a patient service technician/phlebotomist
