The McCourt Institute (MCI) is an international multistakeholder institute advancing ethical governance for responsible technology. It was established in 2021 with founding partners Sciences Po in Paris and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C, and aims to enhance evidence-based digital governance by supporting timely, actionable research on the use of new technologies. It serves as a collaborative meeting ground for leaders from the public and private sectors spanning policymakers, technologists, entrepreneurs, academia, and civil society. Together, these interdisciplinary partners work towards frameworks for online activity and growth that support innovation and catalyze technology for the common good.
The Institute supports the goals of Project Liberty, a visionary initiative to transform how the Internet works, create a more equitable data economy and develop a new civic architecture for the digital world.
DESCRIPTION
The Communications and Engagement Associate will be based at the Institute’s Paris, FR office on the campus of Sciences Po. The Associate will play a vital role in designing and executing the communications and engagement strategies of the Institute and its research work in Paris and Washington, DC.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ideate, develop and execute communications plans for the Institute’s research and multistakeholder governance initiatives, academic collaborations, and events
Publish, distribute and promote the content of the Institute across all communications channels, including our website, and social media; edit and write articles, blog posts, and other support materials as directed
Coordinate the engagement of the Institute's academic and multistakeholder community and help manage its presence through the development of different communication products and marketing campaigns
Manage the Institute’s content online, corporate identity, and liaise with design agencies
Liaise with partner universities and other key stakeholders to coordinate communication efforts
Coordinate with Project Liberty’s Communications team to ensure consistency
Develop communications materials and speaking points for the Institute’s leadership
Develop awareness of the responsible technology ecosystem to help calibrate communications campaigns
Support the Institute's team with contact management and manage contacts relevant to branding, communication and the media
Other tasks as commensurate with the role
Adhere to and promote the values of the Institute and PL
QUALIFICATIONS
1-2 years of relevant work experience in a similar position, preferably in a fast-paced international environment (international organization, business, policy, think tank or university)
Graduate degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field
Ability to create and manage content production, while also overseeing complex communications projects with multiple stakeholders in a matrix organization
Capacity to develop and create strategies to increase the Institute’s presence and engagement
Keen interest in responsible technology, cutting-edge innovation, and ethical governance
Outstanding synthesis, drafting, and presenting skills
Impeccable written and oral command of our working language English (fluent/near-native level). Other languages are a plus.

The expected salary range for this position is: 35,000 Euros annually. The actual salary offer will be determined on factors including the qualifications, experience, skills, and abilities of the applicant. This role is also eligible for an incentive bonus.
