Senior Software Engineer at Wellinks (formerly Convexity Scientific)


Wellinks (formerly Convexity Scientific) is a connected medical device company that has created a portable nebulizer to transform respiratory care. Our flagship product, the Flyp Nebulizer, has seen successful sales and rapid growth. Looking to the future, our next phase of development expands our ability to reach patients and improves the entire treatment experience. With the next generation Flyp as our first connected device, we are introducing a platform to manage remote care for patients with chronic respiratory disease. This platform will be able to track treatment metrics, connect patients and care providers, and help people with chronic respiratory conditions breathe freely.

 

We have closed our Series B and are growing quickly. We are currently working with a solid team of software contractors and are developing our in-house talent and engineering team. We need a senior software engineer with architecture chops to head up this team and help us scale.

 

Position Summary


You will be working closely with the Chief Product Officer and President of Wellinks. In the beginning you will be working with in house and contract engineers and helping us lay the groundwork for our connected device platform. This position requires the ability to identify resources needed and work with a growing team, as well as the technical capability to be a direct contributor on the software platform. This is a key position focusing on high priority initiatives, and there is significant opportunity for career growth and autonomy for the right candidate.



Responsibilities for this role include:



·       Working collaboratively with Chief Product Officer to develop product milestones, requirements, and timelines for software platform

·       Making decisions on software architecture and platforms

·       Leading development and implementation of patient monitoring platform

·       Designing and supporting verification and validation testing as needed

·       Evaluating integrations with 3rd party devices and software

·       Weighing in on hiring and growth plans for the software team

·       Pair programming with junior developers

·       Collaborating between contract developers and in-house development team

·       Keeping up to date on software development and security best practices

Need to haves 


·       Experience launching products and pushing product releases for consumer use 

·       Experience working in Agile development processes

·       Experience working in a regulated industry where patient data and privacy are mission-critical

·       Have worked with and helped train junior developers

·       Strong communication skills and comfort working with users

·       Commitment to quality and effective project management

·       Ability to work 3-4 days/week on site in New Haven, CT 


Nice to haves 

·       Experience developing software to meet HIPAA & GDPR compliance standards

·       Familiarity with FDA regulations and processes around software development

·       Familiarity with Ruby or similar languages

·       Start-up / scale-up experience

·       Digital health / connected hardware experience
