Senior Clinical Research Associate – Full Time Exempt

The MiCOR program exists as a cooperative agreement between the Defense Health Agency of the Department of Defense and the F. The mission of MiCOR is to define best practices related to the prevention and mitigation of cardiovascular disease in the military in order to enhance personnel readiness, minimize healthcare costs, and reduce cardiovascular morbidity later in life. This multidisciplinary program integrates expertise from fields including cardiology, psychology, pharmacology, and metabolic disorders, among others. MiCOR supports both basic research and randomized clinical trials in active-duty personnel, retirees, and their dependents to evaluate and establish state-of-the-art approaches for treating conditions that give rise to cardiovascular illnesses. We are focusing on many physiological, psychological, and behavioral risk factors for the development of cardiovascular diseases such as high body weight, diabetes, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, arrhythmias, sudden cardiac arrest, atherosclerosis, affect and stress concerns, and dysregulated eating behaviors.

Metis Foundation is seeking a Senior Clinical Research Associate to support the Cardiology Research program at the Metis Foundation is a 501c (3) specifically organized to advance clinically relevant scientific research to the medical community, especially within the US Department of Defense. We provide scientific, educational, financial and project management support in the conduct of federally and privately sponsored research, clinical trials, and education.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:                                                                                

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of project management and measurement systems to manage workflow to achieve specified milestones and ensure that the team meets outlined deadlines and goals.
  • Coordinate communication and weekly research activities across project team members.
  • Identify challenges to smooth conduct of the study activities and suggest solutions to move the work forward.
  • Work with the Principal Investigators and with other staff to assure that IRB applications are submitted in a timely way. Ensure research compliances are met.
  • Draft and submit IRB-related documents including protocols, informed consent forms, HIPAA forms, data collection forms, recruitment materials, and study plan.
  • Assist in preparing progress reports and other materials required by the funder(s)
  • Assist in analyzing study results and preparing scholarly materials about the study for presentations and publication.
  • Adapt to new tasks related to the conduct of research as necessary.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Personal skills include being highly organized and detail-oriented; able to take initiative, prioritize tasks for a large complex project, multitask, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as independently under the supervision of the Principal Investigators and Project Director.
  • Experience in the conduct of clinical research.
  • Experience in regulatory management of studies (i.e. IRB submissions, maintaining regulatory binders, executing data agreements, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication, ability to interact effectively with health professionals, vendors, consultants
  • Facility with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with literature reviews and bibliographic management software such as EndNote or Zotero.
  • Ability to organize meetings, travel to project sites and conferences and be respectful of time while meeting participants.


 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



·         Experience in project management.

·         Experience in the management of study-specific budgets.

·         Experience in regulatory management of studies (i.e. IRB submissions,  maintaining regulatory binders, executing data agreements, etc.) 


Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Master’s or Ph.D. degree in health services research or health policy research

 Minimum Experience: 5+ years of experience in multiple roles in health care, including demonstrated experience working with health care teams, practices, and professionals

Minimum 3 years experience in health care research project management in an academic institution, research organization, or academic medical center required; post-master’s degree work experience in health care strongly preferred

Physical Capabilities: Long periods of sitting, standing, carrying light items. 

Work Environment: Office and clinical patient care area; possible evening and/or weekend hours.
