Job Title: Data Warehouse Architect 

Summary:  Looking for a consultant to help design and build new architecture implement new integration technology (Snaplogic) of SaaS cloud data for a fast moving company in the beverage alcohol space. Work largely from home in a highly flexible environment using a blend of open source and industry leading technology. 


Responsibilities

  • Develop data and integration architecture to integrate standard client and 3rd party systems into core package applications.  Integration needs to be regular (automated daily/hourly), reliable (error handling with minimal downtime), re-usable (available for nearly all clients and packages).

  • Develop and maintain data models for core package application and reporting databases to describe objects and fields for support documentation and to facilitate custom application development and data integration.

  • Lead design of core package application components and related data objects (Force.com); focus on consistency and re-use, ease of integration/data maintenance, and optimization for BI/reporting.

  • Support investigation and resolution for escalated data quality issues.


Desired Skills:


Integration architecture:  

  • Understand  data/integration architecture: vision/strategy, as-is architecture, to-be architecture, medium/long-term plan

  • Understand Integration architecture: application integration and data flow diagrams, source-to-target mappings, data dictionary reports

  • Some understanding of ETL, SOA, web services architecture

  • Experience with one or more of the following data integration platforms: Pentaho Kettle, Talend OpenStudio, Jitterbit, Informatica PowerCenter, or similar

  • Familiar with Web Services:  XML, REST, SOAP

  • Experience with Git or similar version control software

  • AWS or Google Cloud Service offerings


Data architecture:  

  • Understand Logical and physical data models (ERwin, PowerDesigner)

  • Awareness of Data governance and data quality principles

  • Ability to transform business rules into functional solutions

  • Data warehouse design: star-schemas, change data capture, denormalization


Database experience:  

  • Broad experience multiple RDBMS: MS SQLServer, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift

  • Familiarity with SaaS/cloud data systems (e.g. Salesforce)

Server Administration:

  • Experience deploying applications to cloud resources


Other

  • Effective communication with business (clients and business analysts) and technical teams (developers and support staff)

  • Useful documentation of development that can be easily leveraged for training and support 


Preferred Experience

  • Industry experience in consumer packaged goods (ideally, beverage supply and distribution)

  • Experience with a software start-up company

  • BI and Data Warehouse design and integration


Technology in Play

  • Salesforce, SnapLogic, Kettle, MSSQL, S3/Athena, Redshift

  • BI and Data Warehouse design and integration, document (flat-file) management
