As the Manager of Data Strategy, you will be responsible for developing and organizing our academic and school culture data at Zeta to drive student- and organizational achievement. You’ll work with a team of mission-driven, high-achieving, passionate colleagues to help Zeta succeed in its mission to build and sustain high-performing schools that forge thriving communities of lifelong learners, problem solvers, and innovators.
As the Manager of Data Strategy, you will be responsible for:
Working closely with all levels of school-based staff and network management to understand current usage of data and areas of improvement
Understanding existing data structures and improving data workflows as necessary
Owning and iterating on data dashboards to better meet our needs; exploring Power School’s ability to automate elements of our dashboards
Creating and pulling data for three levels: board, network management, and school-based
Performing both exploratory and diagnostic analysis on academic, school culture, and other forms of data; recommending actions to be undertaken based on results of analysis
Managing network assessments and the project management/run of shows for both formal and informal (i.e., overall assessment management for our schools MAP, NYSITELL, NY State Tests, etc.)
Holding our Academic Directors and school-based student achievement teams accountable for implementation of assessments
Exploring various apps and technologies to see if any will add value; lead implementation of selected items
Managing our Trello technology and processes/communications to our schools
Overseeing staff summer training ensuring accurate scheduling, training and other logistics in partnership with MD of Academics
Partnering with academics and operations to support with book inventory ordering and management
Serving as a POC for our PowerSchool including reporting, dashboards, maintenance, and staff troubleshooting
Assisting with other projects and support as needed
We are looking for a talented Manager of Data Strategy with a Bachelor’s degree and at least 2-4 years of experience with a proven record of propelling student growth and achievement. Additionally, we are looking for the following characteristics:
Experience working with data in excel and other technology platforms to manage our school data (school culture, academic - literacy, math, etc.) and organizational data (financial, adult culture, etc.)
Basic experience with coding and relational databases
Familiarity with statistical tests and techniques (regression, causal experiments, etc.) preferred but not required
Demonstrated passion for the mission, vision, and core values of Zeta Schools
Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills
Excellent writing, communications, and relationship-building skills
Strong project management experience that drives efficiency and excellence in all aspects of work
Ability to work seamlessly between high-level strategy and detail-oriented work
Excellent organizational skills
Strong systems-thinking skills to create and maintain academic programs within the school
Passion for driving innovation, disrupting the status quo, trying new approaches, and tackling problems from many angles and with creative solutions
