As the Director of Development, you will be responsible for working collaboratively with the CEO to build and grow the presence of Zeta Charter Schools in various philanthropic circles and deepen strong, lasting individual and institutional commitments through fundraising and engagement efforts. The Director of Development will be responsible for advancing partnerships with government, corporate, and foundation donors as well as identifying and cultivating prospective donors. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for overall fundraising strategy and donor and board stewardship.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support our values and promote our company culture

  • Develop an aggressive fundraising strategy that will allow us to achieve annual revenue goals

  • Strategize and implement a donor relations strategy to attract and retain donors as well as cultivate new donor partnerships

  • Research and identify new government, foundation, and corporate funding streams

  • Oversee our full cycle of board relationships including facilitating board communications and engagement, as well as recruiting new board members

  • Work with the Finance and Legal teams on grant applications and reports, as well as renewing existing grants

  • Maintain and implement a calendar of communications, cultivation, and stewardship activities

  • Create and continuously improve all standards for external/internal communications, written proposal process, and funder relationship cycle

  • Work closely with members of the Zeta leadership team to learn about project initiatives that could be funded through donors and grants as well as review and manage existing budgets of projects seeking funding

  • Manage fundraising budget in partnership with the Associate Director of Finance and CEO

  • Write effective, clear, and successful funding proposals

  • Promote Zeta and support fundraising objectives through the effective design and coordination of special events

  • Effectively communicate with CEO and leadership team in order to make proactive and effective decisions in functional areas

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Has a passion for addressing educational inequity and advancing education reform

  • Bachelor’s degree as well as 5+ years of fundraising experience with individual and corporate major gifts

  • Proven track record of cultivating and stewarding donors as well as creating successful donor strategies

  • Successful experience with navigating all levels of leadership and able to effectively build relationships by establishing trust, credibility, and adding value quickly

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change, able to methodically work through complex problems, set priorities, and execute on commitments

  • Strong project management capability including written and verbal communication; able to present, persuade, influence, and shift perspective as needed

  • Ability to analyze data to advance prospect strategy and create strategic plans

  • Self-starter with strong execution mindset and high organizational skills

  • Strong project management with great follow-through and attention to detail

  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication both written and verbal, ability to empathize and build trust at all levels
