POSITION TITLE: Senior Trust Officer, Principal
This role reports directly to the President and will partner with the President as a senior leader in the office and in client relationships.
A successful person in this role will approach the daily work with the mindset as if individually serving as the Trustee, while maintaining focus on the governance and compliance requirements of a Corporate Trustee. This will require demonstrating their technical strengths, contributing to the Laurel Trust team in the day-to-day client administration, and helping scale the organization through its anticipated growth without losing sight of its commitment to clients and employees. There is no requirement or expectation for business development. The role requires great attention to the details to comply with all policies, procedures, and trust accounting practices. RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW:
- Work directly with the President to support him in fiduciary decisions and client relationship responsibilities.
- The accountable person for specific client accounts and relationships.
- Deploy your fiduciary and tax expertise to perform the daily administration of trust accounts in adherence with trust instruments, governing documents of related entities, governing law, and the firm’s policies and procedures.
- Coach and develop members of the trust administration team and participate in team member performance evaluations; maintain strong employee relationships, manage performance, set goals, and provide continual training.
- Review and approve annual account administrative reviews.
- Prepare and review meeting materials for the Trust, Investment and Distribution Committees.
- Effectively manage multiple on-going projects and successfully prioritize multiple tasks with good judgment and follow up with the President.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with external client advisors, including investment advisers, accountants, attorneys, and family offices.
- Adhere to all compliance procedures and reinforce a strong compliance culture with the team.
- Remain current and up-to-date on legislative and industry issues; serve as an in-house mentor and resource.
- Actively suggest improvements to procedures, policies, and operational matters.
- Serve as an internal leader and play a key role in helping to steward LTC’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accountability; and generate trust with all staff members.
- Assist with special initiatives and other duties as needed or desired to maintain a highly professional and collegial workplace culture.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Nevada resident or willing to relocate upon hire.
- 10+ years of trust administration or planning experience with a focus on world–class service for high net-worth clients ($25MM+ level clientele). Experience within an accounting or law firm, family office, or high-touch trust company is a plus.
- College graduate with additional certification/credential required (i.e., JD/LLM/MBA/CTFA/CFP).
- Technically strong with demonstrated experience with sophisticated trust and asset structures.
- Demonstrated experience managing clients and providing thoughtful client solutions.
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Motivated to work extended hours in furtherance of delivering an exceptional client experience.
- Of the highest integrity with client first mentality.
- Flexible and receptive to contribute in a variety of ways that often arise in a small or start-up office environment that may not correlate to the candidate’s technical skill set.
- Aptitude for utilizing technology to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with ultra-high net worth multi-generational $100MM+ families with complicated assets and sophisticated trust/tax structures.
- Juris Doctorate or advanced degree.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- Tax planning or return preparation experience.
- Managerial or team leadership experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
· This position will require the individual to authorize a personal background check with the Nevada Financial Institutions Division.
· This job requires the employee to sit for approximately 6-7 hours a day and use a keyboard and mouse for repetitive motion. There will be >15 lbs. to lift, push, or pull in this job.
