The team:
The Network Development (NetDev) Services team shares their advanced software and networking expertise through joint development with customers. Our focus is leading imaginative startup projects and software development that allow service providers and enterprises to benefit from the most recent advances in SDN, NFV, disaggregated networking, DevOps, NetOps and more.
The role:
We are looking for hands-on engineers that have a can-do attitude and a core belief in ownership. You will be proficient in some network development technologies and willing to learn in new areas. You will be able to navigate the current ambiguity in relation to the maturity of SDN and NFV technology and still deliver quality solutions. Our projects run in small autonomous teams that lead to many learning opportunities, a great deal of ownership and the prospect of driving this new technology forward.
This role is primarily focused on strategic customers within your region. Travel can be expected within the region to support the growth with existing and new customers, and periodically to California, US for internal teaming.
As an Associate Engineer you are expected to have 3 years of work experience with an undergraduate degree or 5+ years of experience without. You will be working in a team with Principal Software Engineers, with 20+ years experience and Senior Software Engineers with 7-10 years experience.
This role requires a rare combination of skills. You need to have excellent technical skills in software development with awareness of networking. As well as excellent communication skills as you will be working directly with customers.
Necessary skills:
Programming skills comfortable using data structures and algorithms with Python, Java, Go, C, C++ or clojure
Familiarity with Agile and Scrum software development methodologies
Working knowledge of Linux – development and debugging tools
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong problem solving and software troubleshooting skills
Strong customer focus - You’ll have the ability to put yourself in the customer’s shoes
Desirable skills:
Familiarity scripting with Ansible
Understanding of NETCONF, OpenFlow, Yang, OVS, PCEP
Familiarity with networking protocols (BGP, MPLS, VXLAN)
Hands-on experience with OpenDaylight open source projects
