About
the Role:
This remote Junior Web Publisher will update and maintain content for the publication of scientific and medical articles on the Journal of the COPD Foundation website. This will entail the conversion of MS Word documents into HTML for web publishing within the CMS and XML for submission to various indexing databases. In addition, this remote role will entail creating proper markup for maintaining web pages and publishing articles for COPD Foundation websites. This role will take direction from the Senior Director, IT Development and Operations. This position will participate in a quality assurance review to ensure all content across the site is accurate and best practices are upheld.
Key Responsibilities:
Conversion of articles to HTML for web publishing
Conversion of articles to conform to PubMed formatting requirements
Citation and abstract submission to PubMed
Full article submission to PubMed Central
Citation submission to Crossref
Management of article Digital Object Identifiers (DOI)
Provide support for web design, development and maintenance for COPD Foundation web assets
Assist in documenting procedures and best practices
Fundamentals for Success:
BA/BS degree or equivalent front-end web development experience
Minimum of 1 to 3-years’ experience in front end web development
Proficient with HTML, CSS, and working knowledge of XML, JavaScript and jQuery
Proficient in web design and user experience concepts and best practices
Proficiency in Journal Article Tag Suite and PubMed XML tagged data formats preferred
Familiarity with Crossref article submission and DOI management preferred
Basic understanding of industry trends and content management systems, as well as software programs like the Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with responsive and adaptive design is also a desired
Must be accurate, thorough, dependable, organized and support other areas of organization
Strong organizational, problem solving, and planning skills with the ability to set priorities
Self-directed with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a remote working environment
Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines and prioritize accordingly
Ability to problem solve independently and with a team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
