At Tactus Technology we create cutting-edge materials for the rapidly evolving electronic display market, and we are looking for a talented, driven, individual to join our Research & Development Team.  As a Materials Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work across multi functional teams to design and execute experiments around polymer formulation and performance while developing new characterization methods, generating new intellectual property, and engaging with Tactus’ group of suppliers. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research novel coating and elastomer technologies, enhance understanding of products and processes to provide Tactus with inventive solutions toward new development efforts
  • Serve as a materials subject matter resource for product and project engineers for new product and process development efforts as well as assist manufacturing with solving materials-related problems
  • Develop novel characterization methods for measurement of product-level performance on an as needed basis
  • Work with cross-functional team to develop performance requirements, testing SOPs and processing methods
  • Technical engagement with Tactus suppliers to establish material specifications and drive development of new materials
  • Pursue development of intellectual property to protect technology development and secure the company’s competitive position
  • Adherence to good laboratory practices and safety procedures


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with polymers and/or polymer compounds, preferably high performance coatings, and their structure-property relationships
  • Strong aptitude towards the development and optimization of existing or future polymeric materials that can fulfill the needs of our applications
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and attentiveness to detail
  • Ability to clearly support technical decisions with effective oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis (JMP, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a larger team
  • Ability to multitask
  • Self-starter with excellent time management skills and an entrepreneurial spirit


Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related degree and 3+ years of experience OR Bachelors with 5+ years of experience
  • Deep knowledge of polymer films and processing techniques strongly preferred
