JOB DESCRIPTION
The Venture For America Team is seeking five Alumni to be Credo House Leads during Training Camp (TC) to support the 2024 Fellow experience. The Credo House Lead role is a core member of the VFAs Training Camp Team and will help execute all aspects of Training Camp. This role is a combination of being a resident assistant, camp counselor, and teaching assistant.
Location: This position will be remote from June 24 - July 12, and will require you to be in-person in Detroit, Mich. from July 13-24 (Training Camp). Additionally, you are asked to attend the retrospective analysis of Training Camp (1.5 hrs) virtually, date TBD.
Timing & Compensation:
This is a 5-week full-time (approx. 40 hours per week, total estimated 200 hours) hybrid contract position from June 24-July 26. In-person programs require 8+ hour/day time commitment Monday-Friday, with some additional required events in the evenings and weekends. For the in-person dates, VFA will provide accommodation in single rooms, meals, and travel reimbursement to/from the programs. The maximum compensation is $6,000 (averaging $30 per hour), which will be paid in two (2) separate stipend installments plus room and board, travel, and meals near the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit, MI, from July 13 – 24.
The Credo House Lead Manager, whose additional responsibilities include:

Working closely with the Director of Fellow Experience
As the Credo House Lead Manager, you will complete the Credo House Lead responsibilities and additional responsibilities — including elevating and designing the Credo House experience and owning the onboarding and management of the Credo House Lead Team. You will start remotely two weeks before the Credo House Lead Team. This is a great opportunity to hone and develop your management skills.
Manager Responsibilities Before VFAs July Summer Programming (June 24 – July 12):

Evaluate last year’s Credo House experience structure and determine this year’s structure with the goal of achieving:

Strong relationships within the Credo House Fellows

A trusting and meaningful relationship between the Credo House Lead and the Fellows

Successful social events to promote community building and fun

Connectivity across the entire class and to VFA
-
A Credo House points system that promotes engagement

Use this mindset to improve each necessary process from last year to revamp each document, guide, and run of show
-
Determine and create processes that will ensure each week’s Credo House experience and community building are successful (having a roadmap to follow throughout TC will make you successful during this job)

Determine the Credo House Lead point system, in collaboration with the Senior Fellow and Alumni Experience Associate, and how you will tally and update points every week

Determine and create the structure that will be used to manage each Credo House Lead in order to promote their best work in a timely manner

In collaboration with the Director of Experience determine and create the most efficient onboarding process and onboard the Credo House Leads one week before onboarding

Serve as support team for VFA Training Camp
Manager Responsibilities During Training Camp (July 13-July 26):

Follow the processes you created prior to Training Camp to ensure a tight and successful Credo House experience

Daily 1:1 support with each Credo House Lead to support them in leading a strong Credo House experience

Review Fellow feedback and provide this feedback to each Credo House Lead, working with them to improve in areas of growth

Organize and promote all aspects of the Credo House Experiences on a weekly basis

Offer support and guidance to the Credo House Leads in coaching Fellows
-
Create the on-duty schedule for Credo House Leads

In collaboration with the Lead Support Team member, manage and tally all Credo House Points every week
All Credo House Lead Responsibilities:
-
Lead a Credo House of ~40 Fellows, acting as a mentor and guide throughout their Training Camp experience
Lead social and educational activities to engage Fellows outside of Training Camp programming, including the Credo House Retreat
Give a Credo at Training Camp to set an example for the 2023 Fellows
Participate in daily activities, programming, and events as a core Team member
Attend Training Camp sessions and provide in-session support as “Front of House” (introducing speakers, passing out materials and microphones) and “Back of House” (supporting with AV for speaker presentations)
Provides mentorship and build relationships with Fellows through Office Hours, scheduled meetups, and as co-residents of the on property lodging
Encourage Fellows to make the most of their VFA experience by emphasizing the various possibilities for learning and activity
Be on call to handle Fellow support needs, including sickness, being locked out of rooms, noise complaints, struggles with challenging team dynamics, job search, etc.
Proactively ensure that 2024 Fellows are in compliance with all on property lodging policies including COVID-19 policies, communicating and building relationships with on property lodging personnel as delegated
Maintain regular contact with VFA Team, keeping them apprised of activities, situations, and overarching themes in the developing Fellow community
Be all-around helpful and supportive to ensure Training Camp is an incredible experiences for the 2024 Fellow Class
You may also provide guidance and coaching to unemployed 2024 Fellows to secure jobs
You may also lead "Green Rooms” for Training Camp speakers and ensure they have an enjoyable experience
