Venture for America is currently searching for a highly organized self-starter to join our Finance department as a Finance/Accounting Operations Associate.

Venture for America is a two year fellowship that recruits, selects, and trains highly talented recent college grads, places them at startups in emerging US cities, and provides them with access to the network and resources to become company builders and job creators. The Finance Team:
The Finance Team at VFA helps drive growth and maintain stability at Venture for America. We build processes and strategy, and ensure compliance throughout the organization. On a monthly basis, we provide financial clarity to department heads, executives, and the board of directors. We work cross functionally with all of the other departments at Venture For America so that the organization can operate efficiently.
The Finance/Accounting Operations Associate:
We are hiring an associate to join our small but dynamic Team. This position is great for candidates who have 0-2 years of finance/accounting experience and want to learn the ins and outs of nonprofit finance.
You
Have a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and are comfortable with basic accounting entries
Are extremely organized and detail-oriented, and get excited by analytical projects
Have QuickBooks Online experience or equivalent experience with a similar accounting system
Are comfortable with changing priorities and thrive in unexpected situations.
Demonstrate a willingness to do the little things and go the extra mile to accommodate your colleagues, customers, advisors, and whoever else you interact with on a daily basis
Eager to learn more about nonprofit finances
What You’ll Do
Support our Finance Manager in completing routine financial tasks including daily booking of entries and bank reconciliations.
Assist the Finance Team with the monthly closing package including compiling reports from Quickbooks
Review expense reports and work closely with VFA employees to ensure accuracy and compliance
Update various budgets in order to provide accurate data to department heads and City Leads
Collaborate with the COO to maintain up to date documentation on file with VFA’s registered agent service to ensure timely state charitable registration renewals
Work cross functionally with other departments on various projects
Assist with other projects as they arise, such as grant funds expenditure documentation
Participate in VFA’s recruitment and selection process, support VFA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, and assist with at least one week of our Training Camp, as is expected of all VFA Team Members
