Are you a marketing pro with expertise in digital and a passion for our mission? Are you always thinking ahead - looking for areas to improve and optimize? Does the sound of jumping in and taking VFA’s marketing strategy to the next level excite you? If so, you might be the right person to join our team as Director of Marketing. 


What you’ll do:

  • Lead the VFA Marketing Team. Understanding the priorities, executing campaigns, managing & coaching a Marketing Manager and a graphic designer, managing relationships with external agencies (web design, PR, & events), and overseeing departmental budget.

  • Lead digital and content strategy to drive awareness, applications and recruitment, including email campaigns and social media advertising

  • Own our growth strategy across channels, including email and social media

  • Tell the stories of our Fellows, companies, and cities to the VFA audience, adjusting and customizing as needed

  • Be the foremost steward of the VFA brand


    Who you are:

    • Have 6-8 years of progressive marketing or communications experience. Previous Fellowship or Higher Education experience is a big plus.

    • Are well-versed in digital marketing, including email marketing, content marketing, and social media.

    • Balance creativity with data and know-how to turn an analytical insight into compelling content

    • Can think AND Do. You’re able to turn inspiration into action. 

    • Embody a continuous improvement mindset, always measuring and optimizing marketing strategies to increase ROI

    Please Note: while the location listed is Detroit, we are open to candidates from any of the 14 VFA program cities and New York City, where we are headquartered, though our team will continue to work remotely until the current public health crisis is resolved.
