Venture for America is seeking a program Alum to execute Fellow programming and one-on-one support for Fellows in Philadelphia, which hosts VFA’s largest community of Fellows and Alums. You’ll work with the Senior Director of Community Partnerships and Director of Philadelphia to implement the full calendar of Fellow programming and ensure that the Philadelphia VFA community is engaged and well-supported.
What you’ll do:
Execute Fellow Programming, which may include (40%):
Community Collectives for current Fellows (1 per quarter, ongoing)
City Retreat (January-March annually)
Collaborate with the City Leadership Council to plan graduation programming for graduating Fellows (June, annually)
Collaborate with the City Leadership Council and the City Director to plan and execute Welcome Weekend for incoming Fellows (September, annually)
Program execution includes communication with Fellows and guests, logistics such as securing venues and arranging catering, and project management to ensure that the City Leadership Council has the resources and support necessary to host graduation and welcome weekends.
Individual Fellow Support and Coaching (50%):
Work with current Fellows to assure a smooth process of site visit housing, coffee meetings, and other touchpoints during Match
Coach and support Fellows in professional development and community involvement
Coach and support Fellows in job transitions through one on one meetings, resume review, and job search strategy coaching.
Coach incoming new Fellows as they transition to their new city
Administrative (10%):
Create incoming Fellow bio sheets (using Lucid Press)
Assist in achieving Fellow and Alumni survey completion by following up with Fellows who have not responded
You are an alum of the VFA program and are located in Philadelphia and might also be:
An experienced event planner
Dedicated to helping others achieve professional success
A self-starter and strong communicator who drives results with limited supervision
A former VFA City Leadership Council or as a City Liaison (2017 Fellows or earlier) or otherwise provided leadership to the Fellow community during your fellowship
This is a part-time, contract role for 10 hours per week on an ongoing basis.
