Venture For America is looking for a National Programs Manager who will be focused on managing and executing a wide range of national programs that serve the VFA Fellow and Alumni communities. VFA Fellows work for a startup in one of fourteen cities for two years, and alumni of the program are those that have completed their two year Fellowship. 


Venture For America’s mission centers around mobilizing the next generation of entrepreneurs and giving them the skills and resources they need to create jobs. The National Programs Manager will have an exciting opportunity to manage and create programming that adds value to the Fellowship journey and keeps Alumni of Venture For America connected and engaged with our mission. This role will report to the VP of Programs and will collaborate with them on existing program strategy and improvements. 


At a high-level the National Programs Manager will be responsible for managing (1) National Fellow and Alumni programming, (2) VFA provided resources for Fellows and (3) Fellow and Alumni Communications.  


What you’ll do:

  • National Programming (65%)

    • Manage and implement the comprehensive Fellow Mentorship program. 

    • Manage and iterate design of all in-city Fellow and Alumni programming across 14 VFA cities. 

    • Support all Fellow and Alumni-led programming to include Fellow Affinity Groups (VFA Rise), Fellow leadership opportunities, and the VFA Alumni Board.

    • Manage and implement National programming to include quarterly CEO led updates and interest based virtual conversations.

  • Communication Platforms (15%)

    • Manage all external Fellow and Alumni communications/platforms to include emails, Fellow & Alumni facing website, and Fellowship calendar. 

    • Send and compile all Fellow and Alumni surveys/data. 

  • Attend Training Camp (10%)

    • Support Venture For America Training Camp in Detroit in 2020 as a full time Training Camp team member. You will be expected to work and live in Detroit for six weeks, starting the last week of June - the first week of August.


  • Organization (10%) In addition to the responsibilities unique to Programs Managers described above, all VFA team members devote a portion of their time to Fellow recruitment and selection, which occurs on an ongoing basis between August and March.

    • Participate in local recruitment events

    • Evaluate written fellowship applications

    • Conduct candidate interviews

    • Facilitate Selection Days

 

You:

  • Are located in Philadelphia, Cleveland, Detroit, or Baltimore OR another Venture For America city (see our cities here). 

  • Have 2-3 years of experience managing and executing large, national programs preferably at a non-profit. 

  • Are comfortable working with data sets and extrapolating results. 

  • Are entrepreneurially minded and naturally optimistic. 

  • See a need for a more equitable and inclusive path towards entrepreneurship, and have a strong desire to play a part in changing the status quo 

  • Are highly detail oriented and a master of breaking larger projects into smaller chunks and tasks 

  • Can project manage in your sleep and get multiple, diverse stakeholders to work with you 

  • Are familiar with Salesforce, Squarespace, Google Sites, Slack (these are nice to haves)
