Are you an experienced fundraising or business development executive looking for a mission-driven, entrepreneurial environment? Venture For America is seeking an ambitious and results-driven Vice President to lead all aspects of fundraising for the organization. VFA currently raises more than $6mm annually and has ambitious plans for growth in the coming years. The VP of Development will be a member of Venture For America’s Senior Leadership Team and report directly to the COO. 


What you’ll do:

  • Develop all fundraising strategy in partnership with the CEO and oversee its implementation across the country

  • Directly manage the national fundraising team (currently 2 individuals) and collaborate closely with the Sr. Director of Community Partnerships to develop regional fundraising strategies and oversee activities 

  • Oversee and grow existing $2MM+ national donor portfolio, including corporate partners and national foundations 

  • Ensure fundraising systems are functional and efficient, including: grant writing and reporting process, goal setting, pipeline tracking, and Salesforce data integrity, and work with the Development team to build/refresh systems as needed

  • Coach and support junior team members and actively contribute to the Senior Leadership Team strategy conversations

  • Participate in Selection and Program activity, as is expected of all team members at VFA

  • Serve as a representative of the organization in external meetings and conferences, upholding our values and the VFA Credo at all times

  • If you are not based in New York City but still think you’re a good fit for this role, we are open to candidates based in other VFA Cities, but you should expect to travel to New York and our other cities at least 25% of the time


What you may have already done:

  • Worked for at least 10 years in fundraising or business development, with a proven track record of successfully growing and scaling an organization’s revenue

  • Honed your people leadership skills so you are able to both manage & support junior team members, while also providing subject matter expertise to matrixed, senior colleagues

  • Been the external face of an organization to potential partners, donors, and industry leaders

  • Lead the expansion or go-to-market strategy for a growing organization or business
