Are you someone who is always thinking two steps ahead? The go-to organizer among your friends? We are searching for a poised, detail oriented and exceptionally organized individual who is excited to support a fast-moving nonprofit CEO.

Our CEO, Amy Nelson, is effectively also VFA’s Chief Fundraising Officer, serving as the face of VFA to all external stakeholders and funders. You will work closely with her, maintain her schedule, know the status of her relationships, and you will be critical to the success of the fundraising team.

What you’ll do:

Supporting VFA’s CEO, Amy Nelson

  • Manage Amy’s calendars and activities, schedule meetings and calls, and keep her apprised of what’s on the radar

  • Handle travel planning and logistics for everything from speaking engagements to press events

  • Serve as a filter, helping handle some of the communications and tasks that can take things off Amy's plate

  • Get to know and build relationships with VFA supporters

  • Travel to Training Camp and work there full-time supporting Amy and the overall program

Development admin responsibilities

  • Process all gifts and maintain the accuracy of our CRM database, Salesforce

  • Prepare and send receipts and letters of acknowledgment

  • Become an expert in our processes and Salesforce database; liaise between VFA’s Data Team and Development to continuously improve how we capture and report on data events

  • Support our development team in maintaining Amy’s portfolio of donors, sending mail merges; tracking communication; and analyzing effectiveness associated with our various fundraising initiatives

  • Keep collateral up to date and in the office as well as field ad-hoc administrative tasks from our portfolio managers

Everything else

  • Write and speak with passion and purpose, projecting confidence and doing a great job of representing VFA

  • Contribute to/pitch in with all aspects of VFA as needed, from selection to training to office logistics

There’s a lot to get done, and a lot of opportunities to grow within the role and organization. VFA promotes from within -- past Executive Assistants at VFA have moved into roles in marketing, communications, operations and other areas of the organization.

What you might have already done:

  • Worked for 1-2 years as an Executive Assistant or an otherwise detail-heavy role

  • Had experience administering Salesforce or another CRM database

  • Bonus points if you are an excellent writer, as there will be opportunities to craft a range of content!

The good stuff:

  • We pay well! You’ll earn a competitive salary, commensurate with experience

  • High performers at VFA are given substantial opportunity to grow and develop

  • We offer a great benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), commuter benefits, flexible spending account, and gym, tech, and professional development stipends

  • We have a generous vacation policy, plenty of paid holidays, and regular work from home Fridays

  • We promote from within!

  • VFA is a dynamic startup environment with varied responsibilities and a different challenge each day (we mean it – always plenty of interesting problems to work on!)

  • You’ll work alongside a team of exceptionally motivated, high-caliber people
