Senior Associate of Entrepreneurship

Venture For America is looking for a Senior Associate of Entrepreneurship to support the organization's early-stage startup programming and later-stage investment initiatives.

Venture For America’s mission centers around creating the next generation of entrepreneurs in American cities. The Senior Associate of Entrepreneurship will have an exciting opportunity to add value to the early and later stages of a Fellow Founder’s entrepreneurial journey and help shape the organization’s investment strategy.


This role has two core functions: (1) Executing early-stage entrepreneurial programming for Venture For America Fellows and (2) assisting with the execution, strategy, and maintenance of Venture For America’s investment initiatives. You will work closely with, and report to, the Director of Entrepreneurship in this role.


What you'll do:

  • Own the logistics and execution of critical top of funnel (early stage, validation focused) national entrepreneurship programming w

  • Educate Fellow Founders and Alumni about program-specific learning objectives and outcomes

  • Communicate with founders and mentors, both within and external to Venture For America, to support entrepreneurial programming for Fellows and Fellow Founders

  • Assist the Director of Entrepreneurship with investment fund maintenance, diligence, reporting, and future fund strategy

  • Research and deliver external resources to the Fellow Founder community


What you may have already done:

  • Worked 2-3 years in a programming specific role, potentially at an accelerator, incubator, or non-profit
  • Worked 1-2 years in a venture capital analyst role conducting diligence, fund management, fundraising etc
  • Have experience working with or coaching early stage companies
  • Worked at a growth stage startup and have a cross-functional skillset (sales, customer success, operations etc)

  • Are entrepreneurially minded, wildly curious, and naturally optimistic

  • See a need for a more equitable and inclusive path towards entrepreneurship, and have a strong desire to play a part in changing the status quo

  • Have a passion for teaching and educating other entrepreneurs

  • Create powerpoint decks that are pitch worthy and financial models that are investor-worthy

  • Are interested in learning about, or already have experience with, early-stage venture financing investment instruments (convertible debt, SAFEs, preferred equity, etc)
