Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Reconcile bank accounts and assist with credit card statement reconciliations when needed
- Assist with cash flow monitoring and forecasting to ensure adequate liquidity for project needs and company operations
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Oversee and perform all accounting processes for 6 small companies (Annual Transactions of $1-2MM Each)
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
- Review jobs costing for various companies and make necessary journal entries
- Review job costing & WIP reports for Central Region (Total Annual Revenue of $80MM), make necessary journal entries, and present results to Senior Controller
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
- Provide input into department’s goal setting process
- Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns
- Assist in external audits to ensure compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
- Oversee all inter-company accounting, reconcile data, and post necessary journal entries
- Review & Reconcile Payroll Data & post necessary journal entries
- Liaise with our Controllers to improve financial procedures
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education/Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required, and 3 years of accounting experience is required. Public accounting experience ideal.
Math Ability: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as financial and interest calculations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an intermediate knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience with Sage is preferred.
Certificates and Licenses: No certifications required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct reports – however, this position as a senior member of the accounting team is the mentor to the remainder of the accounting department.
