We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Human Resources Generalist to join our team at The KYA Group, a leading specialty construction company. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and executing a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, benefits administration, and training. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Partner with department heads to identify staffing needs and create job descriptions for construction-related positions (e.g., laborers, foremen, project managers, skilled trades).
  • Conduct job postings, screen applicants, schedule interviews, and assist in the hiring process.
  • Manage the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and new hires are properly integrated into the company.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions and concerns, fostering positive employee relations across the organization.
  • Assist in resolving workplace conflicts and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safety-conscious workplace culture.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including OSHA regulations and construction-specific safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files, certifications, and licenses.
  • Assist with audits and reporting for regulatory compliance.

Performance Management

  • Support the performance appraisal process, including tracking reviews, feedback, and employee development.
  • Provide guidance to managers on handling performance issues and implementing corrective actions.

Training & Development

  • Track required safety training, certifications, and continuing education for construction staff.
  • Support career development initiatives and training programs for both field and office personnel.
  • Assist in identifying skills gaps and recommend appropriate development programs.

Compensation & Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefits programs (e.g., health insurance, retirement plans) and assist employees with benefits-related questions.
  • Assist in market analysis to ensure competitive compensation packages for construction roles.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Support the company's safety program and compliance with OSHA and industry-specific safety regulations.
  • Assist in conducting safety training sessions and maintain records of safety certifications for employees.

General HR Support

  • Assist with general HR administrative duties, including updating employee records, handling paperwork, and ensuring the HRIS system is up to date.
  • Work closely with the HR team to implement HR policies and programs that align with company goals.

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with construction industry labor laws, OSHA safety standards, and union regulations (if applicable).
  • Understanding of HR best practices, employee relations, and performance management techniques.
