The Events & Communications Coordinator (ECC) reports to the Director of Development (DOD) to coordinate, plan and execute fundraising events and activities to raise revenue and enhance the visibility of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity.

Plan, Manage, Implement and Evaluate 
Achieve annual fundraising goals and key performance indicators 
Under leadership of Director of Development (DOD), develop and implement a comprehensive, written, plan with strategies and timelines for each project to ensure meeting and/or exceeding annual fundraising goals
Set benchmarks for success and establish reports and reporting schedule and evaluate progress with DOD on a weekly basis

Events (70%)
Serve as the project manager for CFHFH’s major fundraising events. Work with the DOD on general strategy for events, generate timelines and project management systems
Plan, organize, coordinate, promote and facilitate existing special events including the Golden Hammer Breakfast and Wrightsville Beach Turkey Trot, ensuring that they operate smoothly, efficiently and generate maximum revenue and exposure while meeting and/or exceeding fundraising goal
Manage all themed house build efforts including but not limited to Women Build and CEO Build
Create and monitor event timelines and budgets; schedule and maintain communications with speakers, vendors, and participants; coordinate guest lists, food service arrangements, menu planning, decorative and table set-up, nametags and staffing
Work closely with volunteer coordinator to secure volunteer support for special events and provide direction to volunteers for special event duties 
Participate in all special event committees, creating agendas, taking minutes, and providing reports as necessary to DOD
Serve as leader of the affiliates’ young professional group to raise income and increase awareness for Habitat’s mission in the community
Ensure mailing list of officials and key contacts for invitations is maintained
Be an outstanding, confident, and knowledgeable spokesperson for CFHFH

Fund Development (5%)
Support the direct and on-line mailing campaigns such as annual appeal solicitation, Mother’s Day card, and other fundraising outreach efforts
Assist in general development office management tasks

Communications (25%)
Interview and communicate with Habitat homeowners as they enter our program to create bios and follow-up stories to share goals and accomplishments with donors and volunteers
Ensure that each build project has a combination of photos, videos and stories to share 
Work with the DOD to develop, implement, and maintain a media strategy, including both traditional and new media that supports CFHFH’s building, homeowner recruitment and education, marketing, and fundraising programs
Manage and execute online content and presence for the CFHFH website
Design and develop copy for newsletters (digital and print), donor appeals (digital and print), and other marketing materials, including but not limited to, donor communications, affiliate brochures, fact sheets, drafts for news releases, etc.
Perform other duties as apparent or assigned by the DOD
Be proficient with and use Classy, Website, Text-2-Give, and other similar fundraising platforms

Experience and Knowledge Requirements
Committed to the mission of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field 
Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in event planning and program coordination, or an equivalent combination and of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the such as those listed above
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
Skill in interviewing a variety of people and in gathering and synthesizing information from many sources to create a compelling story
Skill in writing for a variety of audiences
Experience with graphic design, including use of Adobe Creative Suite software.
Experience using WordPress and demonstrated experience successfully using social media to promote ideas and messages is preferred
Must be available to work occasional evening and weekend hours, as needed

Physical Demand Requirements
Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; stand, walk, use hands and vision in a professional office environment
Routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, printers and copiers
