About Us

Amani Public Charter School is a stand alone middle school for grades 5-8, located in Mount Vernon, NY. The mission of the Amani Public Charter School is to provide Mount Vernon, New York students in the 5th through 8th grades with the academic skills necessary to succeed in competitive high school programs, college and the career of their choice. Since Amani opened its doors in 2010, it has provided the Mount Vernon community with the option of School Choice.

About the Role

Under the direction of the Director of Finance or their designee, the Registrar is primarily responsible for student information including: reporting, compliance and system operations through the Student Information System, SchoolTools. 


Responsibilities:

  • Register new students by receiving, reviewing and processing applications and required documents 

  • Create and manage student record systems by transferring and withdrawing students, receiving and coordinating the sending of records, creating/generating/changing student class schedules, maintaining files and generating reports

  • Maintain student physical and digital files

  • Manage yearly student admissions lottery

  • Responsible for ensuring the completion of: BEDS IMF, CRDC, PD Reports, and SIRS extracts, and SSEC. Reviews NYSSIS near match queue

  • Work with Testing Coordinator and Special Education Coordinator to ensure ELA/Math 3-8, Science 8, and Regents are ordered 

  • Configure School Year options including: Calendar, Period Schedule, Course Schedule, Course Catalog, Instructor Assignment, and Gradebook

  • Generate and print reports including progress reports and report cards for all grades

  • Act as 1st level of tech support for all school users 

  • Attends and meetings and follows communication from the LHRIC


Location and Commitments

  • Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm

  • School Building

  • 12 Month employee 


Qualification Requirements 

  • Knowledge of NYSED Reporting

  • Organizational and project management skills

  • Ability to perform tasks and projects with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to independently prioritize and process workflow

  • Ability to and meet deadlines

  • Ability to problem solve and communicate well with external parties

  • Ability to handle confidential matters professionally

  • Knowledge of SchoolTools (prefered)

  • Bachelor’s degree is required

REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS

Candidates for appointment in school districts must obtain clearance for employment from the State Education Department prior to employment based upon a fingerprint and criminal history background check. Up-to-date COVID Vaccinations required.
