Annual Salary Range: $50-$60,000

WHAT YOU’LL DO


The Psychosocial Advisor is responsible for implementing psychosocial support for individuals and groups of students, assistingooms in designing psychosocial structure, and the supervision and coaching of psychosocial teachers. These psychosocial supports are developed in collaboration with the clinical team, Clinical Director(s), and in consultation with academic teachers.


  • Coachoom teams to effectively optimize student learning by providing all necessary scaffolding, modeling, materials, and resources, and consistently maintaining a high level of expectation for student success.

  • As needed, support students throughout the day (integration) in utilizing psychosocial and executive functioning skills in group settings, work periods, and transitions; this support is modeled by the Psychosocial Advisor so that the psychosocial teacher can learn and later implement these supports.

  • In collaboration with the psychosocial teacher, establish and continuously monitor students’ individual psychosocial goals and strategies; oversee and ensure implementation of this tracking by psychosocial teachers.

  • Actively model executive function and social communication skills such as consideration of others’ input, appropriate phrasing of personal opinions, and shared interactive play.

  • Coach other Psychosocial Teachers in effective psychosocial support through real-time observations/support and meetings as needed (determination of which Psychosocial Teachers are being coached by Senior Psychosocial Teacher made in collaboration with Clinical Director and other clinical supervisors).

  • Lead or co-lead integrated team meetings in collaboration with the Psychologist/ counseling team.

  • Provide skill-based sessions (in lieu of counseling) to a caseload of students acrossooms; lead case management for these students (i.e., lead monthly calls, parent and team communication).

  • Lead or co-lead health and wellness sessions as assigned.

  • Facilitate learning of self-regulation, anxiety management, social thinking and impulse control skills, in collaboration with the clinical andoom teams.

  • Provide scaffolding that relates to executive function and facilitating successful group work (e.g., create visual schedules, strategies for working in a group, pre-planning and pre-discussions prior to activities).

  • As assigned, collaborate with other senior faculty in presenting parent workshops on relevant topics.

  • Work cooperatively with school administrators, colleagues, and parents to deliver a fully-integrated, student-centered learning environment for each individual learner.

  •  Participate in all training and staff development modules, including reading required books and articles on cutting-edge 2E and other educational developments.

  •  Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in psychosocial teacher position

  • Master’s degree (or currently working towards) in psychology, education, special education, or related field

  • Three years of experience working with school-age children 

  • Experience working with twice-exceptional youth

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Crisis prevention and intervention training

 

Work Environment: 

This job operates in a school setting. School is located on the 4th floor of the building. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the school. 


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is active and involves continuous standing, walking, and climbing stairs. The employee must be able to lift and/or move items above or around 100 pounds. Typing is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time exempt position in an educational facility which is open eight hours a day. Teachers and Clinicians work ten months out of the year according to the academic calendar (late August to late June). Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required. In general, though, hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
