The Quad Preparatory School is looking for a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Clinical Psychology to join our team of Upper School clinicians in providing effective, integrated school-based intervention. The post-doctoral fellow will be supervised in carrying a caseload of upper school students in 6th through 12th grade. The post-doctoral fellow’s role includes supervising psychosocial teachers in carrying over clinical strategies throughout the school day and implementing psychosocial lessons. The post-doctoral fellow will receive internal trainings on frameworks adopted at the Quad Prep, including Collaborative and Proactive Solutions and the Social Thinking methodology; additional professional development includes weekly didactics, attendance at the annual Breakthroughs in Twice Exceptional Education conference hosted by Quad Prep, and two weeks of staff training prior to the beginning of the school year. The clinical team at Quad Prep is highly collaborative, a trait that the post-doctoral fellow must uphold to provide personalized support to each enrolled student. While the post-doctoral fellow position is a one-year position, our growing program has opportunities at times for staff trained on site to grow into a licensed professional position. 


  • Provide individual and group counseling to a direct caseload of students, and complete session notes and other data tracking of student goals. 

  • Provide psychosocial guidance in classrooms.

  • Lead sub-specialty area/project of the clinical team, to be determined by supervisor; examples include specialized therapy approach coaching across staff teams, research/data collection, psychosocial curriculum implementation

  • Supervise undergraduate or pre-graduate level psychosocial interns, psychosocial teachers, and/or paraprofessionals; evaluate performance of pre-graduate level psychosocial interns; oversee psychosocial interns’ and psychosocial teachers’ data tracking of students’ goals through Daily Report Cards.

  • Conduct weekly supervision/consultation with supervisees and ensure responsibilities of supervisees are carried out.

  • Perform timely risk assessment and ensure all follow-up.

  • Before the start of the school year, along with the child’s psychosocial team, identify goals for each student to begin tracking immediately upon commencement of the school year.  Assure the development and timely revision of each student’s plan to allow for tracking of goals.

  • Schedule monthly collaborative calls with each student’s outside providers and student’s parents (all parties on the same call), and collaborate with parents and outside providers as frequently as needed.

  • Participate in weekly Psychosocial Team meetings with all faculty and staff.

  • Organize daily after-school meetings with faculty and staff to cover any changes needed for the following day.

  • Advise and coach teachers and staff in regards to each child's individual therapeutic needs, the psychosocial curriculum and psychosocial clinical best practices; collaborate with other clinicians on students’ teams to determine the best approach for each student.

  • Competently utilize Google Suite, in particular Google Drive and Docs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment: 

This job operates in a school setting. The school is located on the fourth floor of a building with two elevators. This role requires working in various locations around the school and the potential for accompanying students to a local park or outings in the community.

Physical Demands: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items under 20 pounds. During fire drills, the employee, unless physically unable, will need to use the stairs to go to ground level from the fourth floor. Typing is required for composing emails and writing reports. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time position in an educational facility which is open eight hours a day. The 2021-2022 school year contract begins August 23, 2021. Clinicians work 12 months out of the year according to the August-June academic calendar and with vacation time in the summer after a full year of employment. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required. In general, though, hours are Monday-Friday 8:15A.M.-4:15P.M.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Doctoral level psychology degree, PsyD or PhD, GPA 3.6 or above

  • Maintain New York State limited permit to practice psychology

  • School-based experience with elementary population

  • Experience with students who have social-cognitive challenges and learning differences

  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment, particularly CBT and DBT

  • Interpersonal style that builds consensus and compels constructive problem solving

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • Experience working with twice-exceptional youth
