The Quad Preparatory School is looking for a New York State licensed psychologist to lead our training programs for psychology and related fields. 



Expectations:


  • Function as administrator of the psychology training program which offers training opportunities to assist interns, externs, practicum students, and post-doctoral fellows in further developing their clinical skills, ethical principles, and professional identity in order to prepare them to function as generalists in mental health settings. 

  • Function as administrator of the school’s speech-language and occupational therapy training programs by maintaining relationships with graduate programs, fielding intern candidates, assigning interns to appropriate supervisors (i.e., licensed and qualified members of the Quad Prep clinical teams), and organizing internship documentation.

  • Serve as primary liaison to all trainees’ graduate and undergraduate institutions, including establishing initial relationships with new institutions, coordinating visits with institution directors/other staff, ongoing communication regarding trainees, and coordination of completion of any institution-based evaluations.

  • Provide organization and oversight of all training efforts of trainees at the school, particularly weekly training/didactics, which include personally leading training activities.

  • Provide training in clinical skills for graduate students; provide advanced clinical training and supervision for full-time psychology interns and post-doctoral fellows.

  • Oversee individual and group supervision experiences of all graduate trainees and postdoctoral fellows, and to ensure that requirements of trainees’ graduate programs and future licensing bodies are met.

  • Coordinate recruitment efforts for acquiring all trainees, including announcement of open positions, conducting interviews, and managing NYNJADOT portal system for externs.

  • Ensure that the programs comply with the APA Code of Ethics and prevailing professional standards.

  • Establish on-going staff development activities which address supervisory skills and responsibilities. 

  • Provide direct individual and group supervision of graduate trainees.

  • Communicate with State Licensing Boards to assist former trainees in securing state license to practice.

  • Provide ongoing evaluation of the training program.

  • Begin initial steps for application process for APA-accreditation for school’s psychology training program.

  • To support faculty and staff in their mission to educate students by providing programmatic and educational consultation.

  • Competently utilize Google Suite, in particular Google Drive and Docs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment: 

This job operates in a school setting. The school is located on the fourth floor of a building with two elevators. This role requires working in various locations around the school and the potential for traveling to additional school location.


Physical Demands: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items under 20 pounds. During fire drills, the employee, unless physically unable, will need to use the stairs to go to ground level from the fourth floor. Typing is required for composing emails and writing reports. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a part-time position (.6), 3 days per week on-site, in an educational facility which is open eight hours a day. This is a 10-month position according to the August-June academic calendar. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required. In general, though, hours are Monday-Friday 8 A.M.-4 P.M.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Possess and maintain New York State License to practice clinical psychology, or eligibility for license in New York 

  • Doctoral level psychology degree, PsyD or PhD

  • At least two years of experience providing clinical services to a child/adolescent population, including at least one year of relevant administrative experience

  • Knowledge of learning challenges of twice-exceptional students and demonstrated knowledge of and sensitivity to multicultural issues. 

  • Effective therapist with generalist clinical skills and demonstrated experience assessing and intervening with a range of clinical issues and degrees of pathology. 

  • At least three years of clinical supervision experience with well-developed clinical supervision skills; previous experience in providing professional learning and supervision and is highly regarded by supervisees and trainees.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including strong oral, written, and listening communication capabilities. 

  • Excellent presentation and training skills desired.

  • Commitment to furthering the field of psychology through training others.


Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • Administrative experience in a school setting.

  • Extensive experience (e.g., 5+ years) providing psychological services to children/adolescents.

  • Extensive experience providing supervision and training to doctoral psychology students.

  • Clear evidence of interest and experience working with a wide range of diverse student identities and needs.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills demonstrated in speaking, listening, and writing.

  • Experience and skills with use of technology to enhance services.

  • Experience with APA-accreditation process.
